Task 2: Quality Management Systems Multiplex is an international construction contractor founded in Australia and currently

East, the company specializes in high-rise
buildings, studio, high-end residential, mixed-
use, education, health, and civil infrastructure developments.
You have been recently appointed by the Board of Directors as the Quality Systems Manager and
the head of the team of engineers who oversee in Golden Paradise a muti-million-dollar residential
project in Northern part of Sydney.
You need to establish and maintain a quality system in which the concrete structure of the
residential blocks is built in compliance with the quality standards and regulations.
The Cast-in-Place technique has been chosen by the BOD members and it is always a challenge from
the Quality control points of view.
In the first phase of this project, you establish a steering committee with the following members:
James Wallace the senior structural engineer who specialises in concrete projects
Ron Atkinson the senior architect who has been with the company in the past 5 years and has
worked in some of the iconic projects of Multiplex.
Samuel Davis the representative of an outsourced legal service, Mega project lawyers Pty Ltd
that
provides consultation service in infrastructure investments, high-end real estate, shareholder
representation and general meeting organisation and a professional team of lawyers that have
run many construction projects regarding the compliance matters. After the first meeting with the steering committee, John Flecker the CEO of Multiplex asks you to
provide the Board of Directors with an official
report
that includes the following points:
Introduction:
The "cast-in-place" technique, also known as "cast-in-situ," is a construction method used in
civil engineering and construction to create concrete structures on-site. It involves pouring
and moulding concrete directly at the construction site, as opposed to precast concrete
elements that are fabricated off-site and then transported to the construction site for
installation.
In the cast-in-place technique, the following steps are typically involved:
1.
Formwork Setup:
Formwork, which consists of temporary molds or frameworks, is set up to
define the shape and dimensions of the concrete structure. This can be made from materials like
wood, steel, or even specialized plastic forms.

2.
Reinforcement Placement:
If the
concrete structure requires reinforcement,
such as steel bars (rebar), it is placed within the formwork according to the design specifications.
Reinforcement adds strength to the structure and helps it resist tension forces.
3.
Concrete Pouring:
Once the formwork and reinforcement are in place, concrete is poured into
the mould. The concrete mixture is prepared according to specific design requirements for
strength, durability, and other factors.
4.
Compaction:
After pouring, the concrete needs to be properly compacted to remove air voids
and ensure that the mixture fills all the spaces within the formwork. This can be done using
mechanical vibrators or other techniques.
5.
Curing:
Once the concrete is poured and compacted, it needs to be cured properly to develop its
strength and durability. Curing involves maintaining the right temperature, humidity, and
moisture conditions for a specific period.
6.
Formwork Removal:
After the concrete has gained sufficient strength, the formwork is
carefully removed. This needs to be done without damaging the freshly cast concrete.
The cast-in-place technique offers several advantages, including the ability to adapt to site-
specific conditions, flexibility in design changes, and a potentially better structural
performance due to the integration of reinforcement throughout the structure. However, it
often requires more time on-site compared to precast methods, and factors like weather
conditions can affect the quality of the pour.
1. Identify the existing and potential quality issues in the cast-in-place technique (300 words)
2. Establish procedures for the identification of existing and potential quality issues (300 words)
3. Establish procedures to treat quality issues and trends to confirm compliance (300 words)
4. Monitor quality activities throughout the organisation, identify inadequacies (300 words)
Task 3: Meeting
Now, you must consult with the members of BOD to gain consensus. In this task, you will be required to conduct a 15–20-minute meeting in which you will demonstrate how you will communicate with your team, based on the scenario below
. A: Meeting role play
You will be required to facilitate a meeting to consult team members on the preliminary team performance plan.

Make note of the challenges that have been
identified in the team brief to mitigate potential conflict and encourage participation. When planning for your meeting, you will need to ensure that you review the observation checklist, which highlights critical aspects you need to demonstrate during the meeting.
You will need a minimum of 3 meeting participants each must take on one of the following personas. In a meeting with the BOD, you need to address the following points:
1.
Communicate and provide accessibility to quality system information to relevant
personnel. 2.
