BACKGROUND AND SCENARIO:
This is Part #2 for Practical Exercise #1. Using the Microsoft Excel file from Part #1 of the Practical Exercise you will complete two more sections during SDS time. Create a new Microsoft Word document to capture the screenshots of your progress. Make sure to include your
Microsoft Account in each screenshot, otherwise sections may not be scored and an academic penalty may be assigned. Open and save the Excel file you used from
Part #1 as a new file using the naming convention for this assignment (see UPLOAD FILE NAME(S) section below for file naming). Save the Word document using the naming convention for this part of Please note, this evaluation is an Open Book evaluation. You can use any resource
outside of another individual to complete this Practical Exercise. Seeking assistance from another student during this evaluation will result in an academic penalty which may include a 0 mark on the evaluation and an academic offense for both the individual who requested information and the individual who provided assistance.
Your Assignment:

Steps: For each of the steps listed in the “Evaluation Steps” below, create a new section with the heading title provided

As a reminder, take screenshots for each of the steps below (use your judgement

Section #1: Create New Pivot Table
1.
Create a Pivot Table on a new worksheet based on all the data in the data set
2.
Add the following fields into the pivot table

Columns
: province
o
Rows
: infraction_description
o
Values
: set_fine_amount (using SUM aggregation)
3.
Change the top-left cell from “Count of tag_number_masked” to “Tickets by Province by Infration”
4.
Change the style of the Pivot table to “Light Blue, Pivot Style Light 6”
5.
Modify the Pivot Table Style options to include Banded Columns
6.
Add a filter to the Columns Labels to only show provinces in Canada (
hint: if you don’t know province codes, use google)
7.
Format the Values section to change to formatting Currency
Section #2: KPIs
1.
Reviewing the data, which province has the most fines outside of Ontario (ON)? How much was it?
2.
Reviewing the data, which type of infraction has generated the most revenue across all provinces? How much was it?
3.
Add a filter to the Rows Column based on the Values to find the top 10 most fined infractions
4.
What is the third most fined type of infraction? How much was it?
5.
Using the Recommended Charts, create a Combo chart (select Cluster Column – Line on Secondary Axis).
6.
Add a Chart Title element and name it “Top 10 Fines by Infraction by Province”

Explain the importance of digitized data and data flow
Explain the core features of Microsoft Excel to familiarize with cells, rows, formulas and more
Import real-world files to perform data analysis and come up with metrics and KPIs
Create graphs, charts and pivot tables to build visual representations of data
