Section 1 Direct Traffic: According to Semrush.com, Amazon generates about 3.8 to 4.2 billion visits per month which is higher than Walmart.com. October saw an 8.46% increase in direct traffic that was generated from all devices. Amazon is a well-known brand that advertises and has users all over the world, their website can easily be accessed via the Amazon app. A website wants to generate as much traffic as possible (Larson, Draper. 2020). I do see ads for Amazon on both the internet, email and recently on a commercial. The Amazon ad was aiming to keep people young by connecting them through Amazon. I thought it was an effective ad for Amazon, it targeted all generations of age. Paid Referral traffic: Amazon has a great referral program that makes it inviting to be part of the Amazon world and do business through them. Back in 2021, Amazon created a brand referral bonus program that gave an average up to 10% back on qualifying sales back when sales were made off Amazon traffic. These programs became successful because they are easy to join and anyone can join them. That includes Bloggers, social media influencers and athletes, which can generate millions of new traffic depending on that person’s status. Not so famous users can manage the analytics of their products to determine what is selling and what is being viewed. Adding a link is super easy and allows the user to create coupons and promotional banners. If I had a website I would link to Amazon as there is a higher probability that more people were to see my website. Section 2 Conversion Rate: We have all visited Amazon and have seen the millions of products that are offered. When you look under those products, each product has a different company that is selling the product. Amazon brings all the retailers together to make the conversion of the product you’re looking for easy and convenient. It also provides all the products at a different price, allowing the customer to price shop and commit to the sale. By doing so the conversion rate becomes high, making Amazon a successful website. I do believe other websites try this, like wish.com but they are not as successful as Amazon. Revenue Generation: There are multiple “pulls” that effectively make a consumer purchase something. One major thing that has happened over the last couple of years is Thursday Night Football. If you buy the prime membership, you get to watch football on Thursdays. Amazon reported that since buying the rights for Thursday night games, they generated more traffic and revenue. Another pull is the free shipping that is included on
almost all items, almost all websites charge a fee to ship. Lastly are the add- on’s that are generated that usually say, “other members bought these together” this last-minute recommendation is almost like an impulse buy checking out.
