PS330 Unit 2 Discussion
Hello everyone. How understanding Maslow’s Hierarchy can be useful in personal and professional settings. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is organized into five groups of needs and Maslow says that the need at the lower level needs to be met before moving on to the next level, and so on all the way to the last level (Carducci et al., 2020). Having an understanding of these needs will allow someone to help others reach the final level, self-actualization, as well as reach it themselves. At the very bottom of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs are basic needs such as food, water, and shelter. Making sure these needs are met first will allow for everyone to move on to the next level, and then the next. Modern-day application of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
A modern-day application of Maslow's hierarchy of needs would be providing workers with a secure and comfortable workplace environment. Another application would be a child feeling unsafe without access to a reliable caregiver. Is extrinsic or intrinsic motivation better in your opinion.
In my opinion, intrinsic motivation works better than extrinsic. This is due to intrinsic motivation
being self-driven and not relying on reinforcement. References
