B) What soft skills are necessary for success in the specific occupation (critical thinking, communication, empathy, etc)? I decided to pursue a career in computer science programming because I have always enjoyed writing, modifying, and testing the code and programs that enable computer applications to function. Critical thinking, complex problem solving, and time management are the soft skills that I need for this career. 2. A) What education and training will you need to begin this occupation? B) How are you planning to pay for this education and/or training (loans, grants, scholarships, cash)? What steps do you need to take to secure any/all of them? C) Name a specific scholarship or grant for which you qualify (i.e. agency or organization offering the scholarship). D) What steps do you need to take to secure this scholarship or grant? My career requires either a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in computer science or a related field in terms of education. I intend to continue using scholarships to pay for my education. You must follow these three steps in order to apply for grants and scholarships which they are Fill out the FAFSA. To be eligible for federal aid, you must complete the FAFSA.Find out which forms your college needs for financial aid. Apply for grant aid at your college by completing the necessary application Find outside scholarships and apply. A scholarship to which I qualify for is the prince Georges promise scholarship. What are three related occupations? And how do they compare to your chosen field? What are the possible fields of specialization? Web applications programmer, Java developer, and application programmer analyst are three of my career's related occupations. These three closely related occupations are linked to my field since they all include reviewing, rewriting, and analyzing programs. They also employ workflow diagrams and charts and put their understanding of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic to use. Possible specialization fields include hardware programming, web development, software development, and more. 4. What tasks are performed for your chosen career? What equipment or tools are used? What does a typical day look like for a person in your chosen career? Using a current job posting for your chosen occupation, describe the necessary skill levels and responsibilities?
PAS-1000 July 31, 2023 The duties performed in my chosen occupation include Recheck the program after making the necessary adjustments to make sure the desired results were generated. To perform certain tasks like tracking inventories, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment, programmers create, update, and maintain software packages or computer programs. I need to use text editors, debugging tools, build tools, performance measurement tools, and other tools in my field of work. A typical day for a computer programmer may include working on a variety of coding tasks. Writing and testing code for new apps could be part of your daily tasks. To create new mobile applications or computer programs, computer programmers collaborate closely with web and software developers. To write computer code, programmers need to comprehend complicated instructions. Communication abilities. Although they create code alone, computer programmers must have good communication skills to coordinate work on major projects with other team members and management. PAS-1000 July 31, 2023 security, variety, and working conditions all have corresponding needs. programmers for computers Work are always done inside. Work close to others but keep a few feet between you and them. Computer programmers often work an average of 40 hours per week, or eight hours per day, from Monday through Friday. Programmers typically work 9 to 5 or according to schedules consistent with standard workplace standards. Working at a computer can result in headaches, eyestrain, back, neck, and shoulder pain, as well as overuse injuries to the arms and hands. The main causes of coding stress among programmers are stubborn problems, working on a project for an extended period of time without enough rest, and using learning resources that aren't connected. The work environment in my career is some programmers work in an office setting, others may work remotely or as a member of a virtual team, so programmers usually share office space with when they work in an office environment, The workplace is typically deadline-driven and fast-paced Programmers usually conduct their business in these settings from their homes or other non-office locations. They might use video conferencing, instant messaging, or other internet technologies to speak with their coworkers and managers. 6. What are the projected earnings? What is the beginning and average expected income according to geographic location? What other, non-monetary rewards and satisfactions will (or won’t) this career provide? The earnings of a computer programmer are $65,750 and up to $149,090 depending what area of job you’re working in and how long. In Maryland, the starting and expected annual salary for a computer programmer is 65,750 and 104,900 dollars per year as their starting salary. A non- monetary reward that will provide in my career are Flexible work schedules, ‘Time Off' and
PAS-1000 July 31, 2023 Giving employees the tasks, they enjoy doing the most is a very effective non-monetary incentive. As an example 7. What are some of the things you can/will need to do in order to increase your salary (ex. write grants, obtain more experience or education, side-work, etc.)? Changing organizations/teams. After a few years, your work eventually becomes stale. You will be paid better if you switch teams and work on different projects for businesses developing different technologies. 8. What is the outlook for employment in this career? What trends are likely to affect employment growth or decline for this occupation during the next ten years? What is the projected number of annual openings? What future changes are expected in your career field? What are the opportunities for professional growth in your chosen career field? Use a current job posting for your chosen career field to determine what the possibilities for advancement are (not just raises but promotions and/or leadership opportunities) and will additional education be needed? What is the timeframe to complete any additional education? It is anticipated that between 2021 and 2031, employment of computer programmers will decrease by 10%.Over the next ten years, there are expected to be, on average, 9,600 openings for computer programmers, despite the fact that employment is dropping. It is anticipated that all of those opportunities will arise from the need to replace workers who change careers or leave the workforce due to retirement. ( Computer programmers: Occupational outlook handbook 2022) Programming's future is bright as new technology and trends continue to develop.
PAS-1000 July 31, 2023 Programmers are bound to change as AI, IoT, quantum computing, and low-code and no-code platforms spread in order to stay up with these advancements. They will also need to acquire new skills and knowledge. Programmers can influence the direction of technology and programming by keeping aware of the newest developments and systematically learning new things (Shahzad, 2023 ). Computer systems analysts could be programmers with a background in business. Some programmers may advance to the position of software developer with time. They might also receive management positions. Opportunities for Professional Growth for Computer Programmers A company's computer and programming activities are directed and coordinated by computer and information systems managers. They also have a significant amount of responsibility for delegating tasks to other IT workers, like computer systems analysts. In addition to having relevant practical experience, managers in this industry are expected to hold a bachelor's degree in computer science or information science ( Bestaccreditedcolleges.org 2021). An associate degree in computer programming or a related profession can be earned, usually in two years. 9. What are the diversity issues among those currently working within your chosen career field? What group, if any, typically dominates this career field? What do the statistics show? My career's diversity challenges are. The Census Bureau figures indicates that women and the majority of racial minorities are underrepresented in the field of computer programming: Women make up just 22% of programmers, 5% of the staff is made up mostly of black programmers,2.5% of coders are professionals of Hispanic origin. The percentage of Native Americans, Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders is under 1%. The statistics show this is a

PAS-1000 July 31, 2023 challenge for both computer companies and job seekers looking to enter the industry. Numerous detrimental repercussions on corporate operations may result from a lack of diversity in the tech industry ( Why diversity in tech is important 2022). 10. Create a long-term SMART Goal for your career of choice. What additional important information have you discovered in your research about your chosen occupation? Now that you’ve conducted your research on your chosen profession, what do you think you may have to consider in terms of your personal goals? My long-term s.m.a.r.t goal is to earn my associate of science degree when I complete all my require courses and earn my 60 total credits, I will do this by working on all of my assignment’s and turning them in on time and study every day, As I develop my skills in programming and constantly progress, my career is relevant to me as I plan on to be done be next year around July of 2024. Developing and creating websites is an important aspect of my occupation of work, I've discovered. What I might have to think about in terms of my own personal goal is achieving the most knowledge I can in my programming skills to advance my career up and be successful.
