Unit 3 Assignment- Research Methodology Unit 3 Assignment- Research Methodology
The best research methodology approach for this situation is quantitative research. In this situation we are dealing with codes. With quantitative research "it refers to a set of strategies, techniques and assumptions used to study psychological, social, and economic processes through
the exploration of numeric patterns." (Subject and course guides: Quantitative and qualitative research: What is quantitative research?).
You use quantitative research to collect information, use closed-ended questions, show relationships among the data, and compare data. By using this research method, you will be able to find out why some coders are not using the computer-generated codes and to find out why some coders are using the new system. You can gather this information by asking closed-ended questions through a survey such as, do you prefer using the new computer assisted coding language or do you prefer the old processes and why? Do you think using old processes or computer-assisted language allows a greater degree of compatibility or integration across multiple applications? How much time were you given to learn, practice and implement the computer-assisted language? What are the pros and cons of each coding language? Once you can determine why coders are not using the computer-generated codes you can make the changes necessary for them to start utilizing it. It could be as simple as they need more training, or the system is not working correctly and needs updates.
