Non-graded portion :  List your historical research topic here: o Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 Graded portion: Distinguish between primary and secondary sources.  Primary Sources are from someone that was direct to the source of the event, or someone that was close. They were a first-hand witness, or there at the event. Will have more details about certain things, also uses a single source for specific information.  Secondary Sources, are people who take summaries, or accounts of first hand and tell a summary, or site the first-hand account in some cases. They interpret or analyze the first-hand account, will also use several primary sources. Uses Background and or themes for information, not as many details as primary sources. Explain why it is important to consult a variety of sources when conducting historical research. Include specific details and examples.  The use of many sources helps to lessen the effect of there being bias. This also helps to build credibility with your audiences, so they are able to see you are not showing preference to one side of the story, and that you are using facts to show that the situation happened based on those facts, and not on your opinion or preference. When you use many sources you can also show your audience the past, and help them to understand what happened at the event. Retrieved July 8, 2023, from https://www.nytimes.com/1996/05/31/us/75-years-later-tulsa- confronts-its-race-riot.html  Choose a current event related to the subject of your historical research question and explain how they are connected.  In March of 2021 a lawsuit was filed to set the events of the massacre correctly, but also to create a fund for the survivors and descendants of that day, it left about 300 people dead, and destroyed the Greenwood Neighborhood. These events are directly related as the past seems to have caught up in the future. History and people now can clearly see that the events of this day 1

were wrong, and are looking to make an attempt to repair and clear up the story. If they are able to do this, it could be a good beginning to try and show people that we can all get along, and not see the color of our skin as a barrier. It can also hold America and Americans accountable for many previous injustices that have occurred. 2
