Current and Future State of Health Care Legislation Analysis Introduction In 2020, the world was met with a pandemic Covid-19. This pandemic caused a lot of changes in healthcare. While it is natural to have changes in healthcare. Covid-19 forced the world in a much quicker direction. Covid-19 caused thousands of deaths. The government was expected to find a solution for this outbreak. This writer will discuss, healthcare during the pandemic, the legislation and/or procedures places, and the overall affect it would have on patients and healthcare providers and administrators. Covid-19 has no prejudice to who can get sick, but there are some demographics that are at a higher risks, those who are older, and those with immune compromised systems, can be at a higher risk for pulmonary and other healthcare issues, that can result in server illness and death (Pappas, 2020, para. 3). In 2020, roughly 776,000 cases of Covid-19 were reported, of those cases roughly, 41,000 of them were fatal (Cases in US, 2020). Administrators needed to be vigilant in how they commanded their teams, the number of polices and safeguards that needed to be put into place, were limitless. The time of fear and panic, it was important the patients received quality care; however, healthcare professionals were also at risk, and some were reluctant to preform in their field. These safeguards are for both patients and staff alike (LaPointe, 2020, para. 3). The employees in healthcare need to be prepared for the overflow of patients. This means that they have staff, masks, and equipment, to properly care for themselves and patients. Patients also began to feel let down by their healthcare system as they would go to seek treatment and either have issues being seen, or having surprise charges and uncovered covid related expenses that insurance companies were not covering, reports have surfaced (LaPointe, 2020, para. 5). Current and Future State of Health Care Legislation Analysis One of the biggest issues that healthcare facilities all over the globe had to deal with, was the shortage of supplies. Beyond the supplies there needed to be research and time wrapped up in prevention, and treatments, that would properly combat the numbers coming thought the doors, sue to Covid-19. There was not one person, business, and especially healthcare facility that was not affected by the pandemic. Legislation with Covid-19 adjusted and changed. Healthcare workers, businesses, schools, and even government offices both state and federal, were able to use CARES Act (Snell, 2020). This act was implemented to give additional support to those who are listed above. About a 153.3- billion-dollar influx to help with healthcare costs. Coverage included medications, supplies, health centers, and the CDC, hospitals (Snell, 2020). This act will provide funding to medical facilities, to offset healthcare costs as well as the loss of revenue that were sue to Covid-19 related issues. This meant that patients could receive the care that they needed and not receive unexpected bills and expenses (U.S DHS, 2020, para. 1). These funds distributed to millions of healthcare providers, helped facilities across the country. Medicare enrolled providers would receive these funds, as they were recognized as important facilities, that could use these funds properly (USDHS, 2020, para.1). The increase in spending, meant that other areas could become at risk for lower funding. The changes in this instance meant that the administrators, had to ensure the proper departments were funded as needed to provide healthcare treatment, no matter the illness. Value and Dignity

Current and Future State of Health Care Legislation Analysis When administrators focus on helping departments, they look at the worth and dignity that each one exhibits as a department and even as individuals inside those departments. The organization must be able to provide healthcare to all patients even those who are infected with an illness that took over the world. Medical professionals need to work diligently to provide quality care to these patients. With all demographics affected, and some demographics at higher risks, providers need to value each patient the same while creating a treatment plan with the proper equipment needed for each patient. Even with so many patients coming in the doors each patients needs to be treated as a person and not a number, as the number of patients grew day by day. Administrators must work to make sure that patients remain as the focus and that each patient is treated uniquely and that each step is taken to sustain their lives. Front-line workers are now heroes, the providers in healthcare that remained focused and driven during a scary time in out history (CMS, 2020, para. 2). The long hours and time that is provided by these providers so that all patients with and without Covid-19 are properly treated is unremarkable (CMS, 2020). Healthcare appointments were not able to be implemented via telehealth, video, and calls. This was one change that was helpful, and safe. This allows patients to receive medical advice without going into the office, whether they were with symptoms or for another illness, and these patients didn’t need to worry about making contact with the illness. This would allow patients to be seen and not spread the virus, and therefore, help keep patients safe and treated (CMS.gov, 2020, para. 7). Administrators will devote their time to making sure that patients are treated to the best and most quality, when the administrator is mindful of the providers dignity. The needs that need to be met are of both the patient and the provider, and administrators need to keep this in mind.
Current and Future State of Health Care Legislation Analysis Administrators can follow the CDC guidelines and laws that were determined to have the best results, from the social distancing, the constant cleaning disinfecting, creating it a mandate that people wear mask to be in public. Trends The current trend is what is done by many, and therefore the norm for the moment of the trend. In healthcare industry, the risk management teams, will be heavily affected by the standpoint of administrator and patients. Telehealth has opened many avenues to the healthcare industry in how medical treatment can be obtained, from contagious patients to immobile patients, these can be helpful and successful for patients to seek healthcare advice in the comfort of their own homes. However, there are risks that can be associated with telehealth. Telehealth is not just being able to see people via video, but electronic medical records or access to medical records via websites, where patients can see their results in real time, and use these sites, to ask questions to nurse and doctors. HIPAA is a major concern for these telehealth options. While patients need to opt into these services, the administrators still need to be careful of all the same issues for patient confidentiality. Patients have more insight to their care now more than ever, and sometimes, the problems that can arise with using these real time results and sites, is that the reports for the providers may be misleading or hard to understand with medical jargon, that can be in them. The best part of telehealth is that it allows providers ample time to treat and speak with patients that do not need to be done in 15-minute increments, or other polices in the office. Covid-19, where the contact could mean someone with compromised health could mean death, their weekly visits does not mean that they need to go into the office to be seen and therefore they do not need to be in contact with their doctors’ other patients, or contaminated surfaces in the office. Telehealth is a new and innovative way, that bridges a gap of communication for patient and provider, and this allows patients a convenient and safe way to receive healthcare, especially when the pandemic is such an issue. This trend, and or allowance can help stop the spread of illness and give patients what they need to feel comfortable receiving care (Siwicki, 2020, para. 1). Once a vaccine was developed for the virus, and the numbers began to fall. The world began to normalize again, where masks were not required, going to the doctor’s office did not mean that there was a probable chance of encountering someone who had Covid-10, and businesses began to open so that people could somewhat resume normal routines in life. However, the pandemic is now longer classified as a national safety concern and alert. Covid cases are still ongoing, and fluxes during cold and flu seasons, are seen. The steps taken in healthcare did a lot for keeping it at bay, and creating an environment and team efforts that were needed to make an impact on Conclusion

Current and Future State of Health Care Legislation Analysis Generally, there are always changes in healthcare. Something that can better the care that patients receive is always being implemented. As technology advances, and the treatments and services change, the reforms and legislations are unavoidable. However, there is not such legislation that does not have the patient in the foremost focus of the desired outcome of the legislation. With Covid-19 there were many things that needed to be addressed quickly and effectively. This pandemic was causing fatalities on a global level, and something needed to be done as soon as possible. Healthcare providers and administrators alike make many sacrifices as well as decisions that made it easier to get through the pandemic.
