COURSE REFLECTION JOURNAL COURSE REFLECTION JOURNAL Unit 8 Journal Entry Discuss your most valuable learning experience related to this unit. (This might include facts, concepts, insights or ideas derived from the course content, outside research, your professor, your peers or professionals in the field.) The planetree model being the start of patient-centered care and helping to improve bedside manner. Being a patient myself recently and going to the emergency room, I was nervous of the outcome and what procedures that may need to be done in order to find out what was wrong. The ER physician was outstanding and made me feel at ease. Bedside manner is extremely important. Self treatment has it's pros and cons, like self medicating, being pro active in change lifestyle habits but it can also have negative consequences like improperly diagnosing the actual problem, if searching on social media or online sites. Discuss an example(s) of knowledge, awareness, or skills you gained from this unit that might be applicable to your current or future career. Human interaction is not just communication, its also centers around being king concerned and comfort for the patients needs and care. Having these interactions will build patients trust. The dimensions of patient care are respect for patients values, preferences and expressed needs, coordination and integrity of care, information, communication and education, physical comfort, emotional support and family involvement. Discuss ideas, material, research, topics, etc., you did not have time to fully investigate but would like to revisit in the future. Consider storing your links in RefWorks for future access. The planetree Model and Theriot original model focusing on human interaction, information, social support networks and nutritional healing. Different patient subculture that are entitled to ethic-based treatment are non-compliant patient, compliant patient and patient-partner. patient partner being some what medical intelligent if providers can answer questions before being asked can result in meeting patients need for information. Compliant patients are sometimes shy or embarrassed and may withhold information, therefore the doctor may have to use the service of family members or friends or the use of a translator. Non-compliant patients, tends to me more disgruntle due to they have waiting to the last minute to see care and may be mor hostile than others Create a list of resources for future reference and use in your courses and/or career. This might include articles, authors, websites, professional organizations, research studies, publications, etc.
