2 Healthcare administration is a behind the scene type of career in the healthcare field. Unlike most healthcare professionals, Healthcare administrators do not work hands-on with their patients, but still play a very important role in the healthcare industry. While a lot of people do not really know much about this career field, According to National University (2021) in The Role of healthcare administrators and how to become one , “ The healthcare administration industry is growing at an explosive rate, projecting much faster than average job growth of 32 percent for medical and health service managers.” The role of health administrators and how to become one. Healthcare Admins also work in different healthcare settings based on personal preference, or field of study. As most healthcare administrators work in hospitals, others work in nursing homes, healthcare insurance facilities, medical clinics, assisted living facilities, and physician group practices. Healthcare administrators have a pretty competitive salary in the medical field. Their salaries range from $50,000 to $100,000 a year and can even go as high as $170,000 depending on what job roles they have. Job roles such as Clinic practice manager, Hospital administrator, Nursing director, Chief executive officer (CEO), and other higher roles in the healthcare administration field are known to be paid with a higher salary and can even go up to $190,000. Just like every other career in the medical field, healthcare administration salary also varies by state as well.

3 According to Healthcare Administration.Edu (2022) Health management and Hospital Administrator Salary, with Entry level experience, (bachelor's degree) both states Arkansas and Georgia have a pretty low salary rate compared to different states. The state of Georgia averages in a total of $63,810 a year, and the state Arkansas averages in a total of has a salary as low as the lowest salary total of $50,000-$64,310. States with a higher pay with entry level are District of Columbia with an average salary of $111,890 Hawaii with an average salary of $101,040 and Newyork with an average entry level salary of $103,520. To become a Healthcare administrator professional, a person at least needs to have a Bachelor's degree to be considered for entry level careers. Although some graduate with their bachelor’s in healthcare science or business to get their feet wet in this industry starting at entry level, Most healthcare professionals earn a Master’s degree. This opens up more doors for higher leading and more pay in the industry. Others may even get their doctorates in this career field. Depending on what exactly someone wants to do with this career will determine what degree they should earn to be most successful. Some may think that because the Healthcare administration career is more on the behind the scenes type of healthcare job that they would mainly just be focused on business courses. Although some business courses are necessary, taking classes such as Accounting, Marketing, Financing etc, courses such as Chemistry, Anatomy, Biology, Statistics etc are also requirements to graduate as well.

4 Students who are looking to earn a degree in healthcare administration must be able to obtain the career of a healthcare administration must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students who are interested in entering the masters program for healthcare administration must be able to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. To become a healthcare administrator there are many routes you can take. You can get a bachelor's degree in healthcare science and minor in business, or you can get a master of healthcare science degree. While a Healthcare administration may be a little difficult to get into for some, different states have different requirements for this career field. Different states play a really big role on what degree you will need and what’s required for different careers. For example, living in a state such as Texas and wanting to pursue a career in healthcare administration may be a little less complex than some other states. According to Cecil Erwin Young (2021)in Texas health and human services commission, “ Have completed two years of full-time study at an accredited college or university in a health -related field”. Since The state of texas only requires 2 years of education and training to pursue this career, it may be considered a lot easier to get in this field here. Once a person has earned their degree in healthcare science or business to become a healthcare admin, there are a few things they have to do to also maintain the license

5 that they’ve earned. Unlike some other healthcare professions, Healthcare administrators are not required to have a license, since they do have certification, they must obtain the do not have to do a lot to renew their license or certificates. After 3 years of having certification, it must be renewed every 2-3 years and have to pay the recertification fee of $200+. For the past few months of learning about this amazing career field, I definitely decided that this career fits me the most and is the career that I look forward to having when I graduate with my bachelors degree in Healthcare science. In order to make my dream a reality there are a few things that I must do to have this career. The main thing for me to do is to maintain a 2.5-3.0 GPA from now until graduation to be eligible to pursue this career. It's also very important for me to start an internship sooner than later so I have some background knowledge before and also get to be hands-on in the healthcare admin field and gain some experience in this field. It’s also really important for me stay on top of things such as requirements such as classes and grades so that I can graduate in an appropriate time frame. Doing this paper for this class was actually something I looked forward to before I even started this course. While reviewing my class schedule with my advisor in the beginning of the semester, she mentioned this career project and I definitely looked forward to it. When I transferred to Stockton this semester, I was in a pretty dark place. I spent years of time and effort at a different University trying to pursue a different healthcare career and then realized that that career wasn’t for me. I came to Stockton with an open mind

6 and wanted to give myself another shot to work in the healthcare industry. After speaking with my advisor, she opened my mind up to healthcare administration. I went home and I did research on this career almost every day and I fell in love with this career field. This paper is more than just an assignment for me because I enjoyed doing it. I enjoyed learning more about my dream career. This paper will also be motivation for me to continue to push myself to work hard so that when I do get my bachelors degree in healthcare science I can look back and reflect on where i started and appreciate how far i’ve come.
