Discussion 2 Title of Study : A Non-Interventional Study to Asses the Safety, Effectiveness and Tolerability of Quinapril Reference : https://www.clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT00930722? cond=Hypertension&rank=1&limit=10&term=Comparative%20Study&aggFilters=results:with Clinical Trial ID: NCT00930722 Sponsor : Pfizer Study Initiation From : 2009-06 Study Completion To : 2010-06 Total number of volunteers : 329 Study Type : Observational Treatment : quinapril Essential Question : This study's key question is whether quinapril is an appropriate and reliable treatment for hypertension . Study Hypothesis : Quinapril, when given to hypertensive patients, is expected to significantly lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, according to the study's hypothesis . Independent Variable : The independent variable in this study is the administration of Quinapril to participants with hypertension . Dependent Variables : Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP): The primary dependent variable is the change in systolic blood pressure (SBP) from baseline to Week 12 . Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP): Another dependent variable is the change in diastolic blood pressure (DBP) from baseline to Week 12 . Achievement of Blood Pressure (BP) Goal: The number of participants achieving their BP goal at Week 12 is also a dependent variable . Preference for Add-on Anti-hypertensive Therapy: Participants' preference for additional antihypertensive therapy is another dependent variable .
Study Results : According to the study, quinapril significantly lowered both SBP and DBP. At Week 12 compared to baseline, participants in the quinapril group had average reductions in SBP of 9.40 mmHg and DBP of 3.93 mmHg. Additionally, a sizable portion of participants met their BP objectives by Week 12 . Study Conclusions : Quinapril appears to be a useful and secure treatment option for hypertension, according to the study's findings. This judgement was made in light of the participants' significant blood pressure drops and Week 12 blood pressure goals being met. The study population did not experience any serious adverse events, which is significant . Checking How Quinapril Works Over a Longer Time: Researchers could keep an eye on how well Quinapril works for an even longer time, beyond the 52 weeks they already studied. This would help us understand if the drug keeps doing its job over an extended period . Possible Next Steps for Clinical Investigators : Comparing Quinapril with Other Medicines: Scientists might want to see how Quinapril stacks up against other common medicines for high blood pressure. This way, we can figure out if Quinapril works better or just as well as the others . Including More Types of Patients: It could be helpful to include a wider range of people in the study, not just those with high blood pressure. By including folks with different health issues or from various backgrounds, we can get a better idea of how well Quinapril works for everyone . Understanding How Quinapril Does Its Job: Researchers can dig deeper to find out exactly how Quinapril lowers blood pressure. This would give us clues about how to use it more effectively for each person's unique needs . Looking at How Quinapril Works in the Real World: Instead of just in clinical trials, we could look at how people use Quinapril in their daily lives to manage high blood pressure. This can tell us how well it works in a broader sense .
