Transitional Care Application: Roles and Organizational Structure Different specialized care systems require specific leadership roles and organizational structures. One such system is transitional care, which is commonly found in nursing and rehab facilities. The success of a transitional care organization hinges on the effectiveness of its leadership, sources of power, management strategies, and the implementation of shared networks. In this paper, we will explore the roles of a CEO in a transitional care organization, the sources of power within the healthcare system, management issues that may arise, and the importance of establishing shared networks. Roles of Leadership in Transitional Care When stepping into a leadership role, it is vital to understand the distinction between being a manager and being a true leader. While managers focus on executing processes and directing subordinates, leaders possess the ability to challenge, communicate, and inspire. In the case of transitional care, effective leadership is crucial for success (Borkowski, 2020). Leaders in transitional care organizations must possess a unique set of skills to navigate the challenges they face. They must be able to adapt to change, make informed decisions, and create a positive work environment. By demonstrating these qualities, leaders can inspire their teams to provide exceptional care to patients and drive the organization forward. Sources of Power in Healthcare Organizations Power plays a significant role in the functionality of healthcare organizations. It influences organizational behavior, culture, and ultimately, the structure of the organization. Within a transitional care organization, various individuals may hold a sense of power. Management Issues in Transitional Care Organizations Leading a transitional care organization comes with its fair share of challenges. Newly appointed CEO, like Kalia may encounter difficulties in establishing their authority and gaining control over the organization. To succeed in this position, it is crucial for leaders to regain control and develop a base of power (Borkowski, 2020). One effective approach to addressing management issues is Kotter's theory, which emphasizes the importance of understanding obligations, building a reputation of expertise, establishing identification, and tackling negative organizational behavior. By taking these steps, leaders can create a sense of confidence and clear, authoritative leadership within the organization, fostering effective communication and collaboration (Borkowski, 2020). Implementing Shared Networks for Improved Functionality To address the challenges faced by Kalia's transitional care organization, implementing a shared network system can be a transformative solution. A shared network allows for improved functionality and a more balanced distribution of power within the organization. By utilizing authoritative and transformational leadership styles, Kalia can drive organizational change and ensure a clear chain of command (Allied Health Community, n.d.).
