I enjoy analyzing data and it always intrigues me to see things that I do not expect. This data breaks the test scores down into 4 levels. The percentage of the level 2 and 3 students seem to have the highest percentage of proficient or above. As for the grade data, for the most part the numbers are within a few points and nothing drastic that jumps out. There is some room for growth in Math in the older grades and reading in the lower grades. Seems as though in general the scores went down from Math in general has some growth, as the numbers are lower in every grade compared to the reading scores. 2015-2016 to 2016-2017, so it would be interesting to look at changes that were made within that year that may have affected those numbers. As for the SMART GOAL:
My goal would be to improve reading knowledge and skills for 8
th
grade reading scores to make up for the 4% loss they had. I will target specific areas of reading comprehension that will assist the students to
be more successful. We will look at the standards included in the data and provide instruction for students to remediate those skills. We will provide scaffolding and interventions for students who continue to struggle with the concepts. The students will continue to work on these skills and gain the confidence to score better on the 2017-2018 assessment. To track the progress of the students, we will have benchmark assessments to see where the students are at and how they are progressing. Based on those benchmarks, we will either re-visit the skills if they are struggling, or move on if the students have mastered the skill. These benchmarks will also allow for small group interventions for struggling students. Important of leaders using data
Data can guide the teacher into future instruction and learn ways to improve that instruction to help all types of students. By analyzing data, the leaders are able to see directly how their students are performing, and then adapt the material being taught to what those students need. Data is helpful for the teacher to refine instruction and to scaffold and differentiate
for those groups of students who have the knowledge to be successful but just need the right tools. Reviewing this data allows for the teacher to identify the strengths and weaknesses of an entire class as well as the individual students. The teacher is also able to use the data to determine whether their curriculum is effective or even if their teaching style is effective. When pulling data from the students you are teaching, it is a direct reflection of what is happening in the classroom and what needs to happen to help those students be successful.
