Analyze key historic events and the implications of economic, social, and legislative impacts by doing the following:
Discuss how historic events influenced the evolution of medicine. There are many things that influenced medicine throughout history. Diseases killed a lot of people or made living incredible hard. Back in the day tuberculosis was a huge widespread and because no one could understand the disease at the time it killed a lot of people. War was another fact that played a part in medicine. There were a lot of injuries like gunshot wounds, broken legs. Because of this people had to find ways to treat their injuries. During World War II there was advancement with medicine that would help treat wounded soldiers. Because of this implemented the idea to experiment with new medicine. Discuss how historic events influenced the roles of healthcare professionals. One way history has influence healthcare is the development of vaccines and antibiotics which has prevent and treated disease. With the development of vaccines and antibiotic the two individually has helped save countless lives throughout history of medicine. Vaccines has
played a dominant role in help eliminating smallpox. Antibiotic is a major breakthrough in medicine. Prior to this finding physician had few options to treat people who was affected with bacterial infections throughout history. Discuss how historic events influenced technology in healthcare. A wide range of digital technology related to medicine have proven to have a huge impact in healthcare. Physician organization has migrated to electronic healthcare record system. In 1675 Leeuwenhoek was the first to observe bacteria and protozoa. His research is what help
form the foundation for bacteriology. Leeuwenhoek made the microscopes which consist of a single lens which he made by himself, which greatly lead to science of microbiology.
(Wagner, 2020). Another technology is the (EEG). This was develop in 1924 which was an external pacemaker which was the first device to be implanted in the body. (Wagner, 2020).
Describe the components of a healthcare delivery system. Organization: Vision, Mission and values are the key component that help develop and implement an organization strategic plan the mission purpose is to describe the organization hopes for the future. Boards of directors links the pharmaceutical companies, patients, and suppliers with senior management. The senior management is in control with leading out the plan according to vision, mission and values. Delivery of Care: Hospitals are open seven days a week, 24hrs a day such make them a very important component in the healthcare organization. (Wagner, 2020) Hospitals are usually categorized as either not-for-profit or for profit, and the delivery of care is typically divided into whether care is provided as inpatient or outpatient. Both types of services are utilized for
acute illness and injury. Outpatient care usually does not involve an overnight stay, whereas inpatient stay require at least 24hr stay or more. These types of services typically consist of major surgery’s or immediate treatment that is consider life alternative.
Funding: As you may know funding is a critical component of the healthcare delivery system. Without third-party payment system healthcare delivery would reduce substantially. Some sources of third-party payment consist of: Medicare: government funded; eligibility required Medicaid: are income-driven, funded primarily through taxes

Private Insurance: Employer funded. Premiums are paid to the company in exchange for coverage. Explain how operations of a healthcare delivery system influence patient care access. (Wagner, 2020) In an effort to address accessibility of healthcare as it relates to physician shortages, healthcare delivery operations have begun utilizing non healthcare practitioners by expanding the scope of practice and to alleviate the burden of physician shortages with healthcare delivery system by closing the gap within patients and physicians, which will enable more access to healthcare services. Explain how operations of a healthcare delivery system influence patient care cost. As of now medical profession emphasize performing healthcare services in the most cost-
effective manner possible. The need to reduce costs with healthcare has led primary physician to treat medical conditions that they would typically referred to specialists. Because the need to reduce cost has led organizations and facilities to increase physician assistants which is commonly referred to physician extenders.
Explain how operations of a healthcare delivery system influence quality of patient care. Quality of patient care is influenced by financial incentives established by the Center for Medicare Services and other payers who participate in mandatory quality reporting programs like the Merit-Based Incentive System. These programs are made to influence providers through incentive payments to encourage them to provide higher-quality care. (Wagner, 2020) Value-based care focuses around the idea that quality in the operations of healthcare should focus on improving patient outcomes by ensuring quality healthcare is safe, and the care delivered and reduce the risk of harm and medical errors.
Analyze trends in healthcare and emerging technological developments by doing the following:

federal government initiative related to health informatics. Health Information Technology enacts as part of American Recovery and Reinvestment, promotes the adoption and meaningful use of health information, specifically the use of electronic health records healthcare organizations in attempt to advance healthcare. Which makes it easier to share protected health information between multiple hospital organizations. Also
the HITECH Act improves privacy and security protection of healthcare data by addressing weakness associated with the electronic exchange of protected health information.
Discuss how emerging technology affects the practice of medicine. Healthcare technology presents a lot of opportunities for improving healthcare, which also includes reducing human errors and facilitating the coordination of care between organizations. One thing that was the most impactful effects of technology was the electronic health record which provided faster access to medical information for clinicians. EHR enables doctors and other medical professionals to electronically access and record patient data. In addition the EHR is typically use to schedule appointments, register patient through patient portal and for medical billing claims.
