Physical Development: Poppy developed her physical development of foot-eye coordination through bringing the water mat from one place to another and fine motor skill of hand control and eye-hand coordination when she carried the water mat, poured water into the cup and when she lifted up the cup to drink. Cognitive Development: Poppy improves her commitment through telling her friend to pour not too much water and
she uses her imagination to pretend that she is having minty tea with her friend. This connects to outcome 4.1 of the EYLF: Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity.
According Developmental milestones Poppy demonstrated cognitive development of 2-3 years old when she engages in making believe and pretend play. Social Development: Poppy improved her social development through sharing the mats, demonstrating self-
independence , and bonding with her friends. This reflects the EYLF 1.1: Children feel safe, secure, and supported. According to Development milestones for Poppy age group she should be playing with other children which she is, when having Mint tea with her friend Ivy. This EYLF principle focuses on secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships poppy felt respectful and gave advice to her friend, Ivy not to pour too much water. According to Kearns ‘’The mesosystem consists of links among microsystems, such as the relationship between home and school, and parents and friends’ (Kearns 2017, pg, 45) Poppy was engaged with her friends.
Language Development: Poppy developed her expressive language through meaningful communication with her friend about not taking too much water. This reflects on EYLF outcome 5.1: Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes.
According to Development milestones Poppy is showing the age appropriate milestone of using two or three words together, e.g ‘’There you are not too much water’’.
