Hello Everyone,
In modern healthcare organizations, we can determine that conflicts arise between many factors such as culture, demographics, and other situations. Some conflict management strategies that can help a healthcare organization are accommodation, collaboration, compromise, avoidance, and
competition (ANA Enterprise, 1). Accommodation can be used to determine how to keep the peace in an organization between employees or patients to eliminate conflict. Collaboration is a way that the organization uses teamwork, creativity, and different viewpoints on ideas to determine how to solve a conflict. Compromise used in the healthcare organization can help set aside differences between patients, employees, and even stakeholders by agreeing to allow the parties involved in the conflict to resolve issues by listening. Avoidance is a strategy that can be used in healthcare to avoid conflict in general by adding a temporary solution. Competition is the strategy that healthcare organizations can use to a line their conflicts through leadership decision-making. A collaborative strategy can be useful in resolving conflicts in a healthcare organization by encouraging change in perspective (Barajas, 2).
An example of a situation where a collaborative strategy can help organizations is using the method of change of perpective to influence with solutions together. For example, in a healthcare organzation a conflict between budgeting and patient care might cause a disruption between emplyees and stakeholders. Some employees may feel like thbudget that stakeholder have for the orgaization is not sufficent enough for the proper care of the patients. This situation can be resolved through the collaboration of ideas to make the budget sufficient for patient care by working together to
create a new budget plan. Another example of collaboration in healthcare is when employees are unsatisfied with their salaries and will demand a raise from the manager or go on strike. This conflict will have to be resolved or patients will not receive the care they need, since the organization will be shorthanded. A way to use collaboration to fix this problem is by offering to compromise as a team and meet to talk over ideas with staffing. Using these strategies, it can determine the value of health care organizations by offering
solutions to conflicts. Likewise, they can ensure that the conflicts do not resolve into bigger ones that can not only affect the value services the organizations offer, but it can also affect the work environment of staff between employees, stakeholders, and patients. Therefore, I would use these
straties for collboration in a healthcare organization.
