Using the E. coli Long-Term Evolution Experiment" aims to modify the E. coli long- term evolution experiment, with a focus on the mutation accumulation (MA) experiment, to investigate the potential role of random genetic drift in the genesis of cancer in pediatric patients. This study aims to shed light on whether similar stochastic processes may contribute to pediatric cancer initiation by subjecting E. coli populations to long-term selection-free conditions and monitoring mutation accumulation over generations.
