ABSTRACT
Personalized hearing aids enhance hearing quality and user satisfaction for individuals
with hearing loss by providing precise amplification, improved speech perception, and
addressing challenges like difficulty hearing in noisy environments. The research was
conducted in the Curran Lutheran Hospital, Zorzor District, Lofa County, Republic of
Liberia. The study at Curran Lutheran Hospital in Zorzor District investigates the
effectiveness of personalized hearing aid devices in improving hearing quality and user
satisfaction.
The research will involve observation, desk-review, and internet information,
with a descriptive survey design and a quantitative research methodology questionnaire. The
target group includes registered healthcare professionals in key departments, using stratified
random sampling for a 50% response sample. The researcher seeks ethical clearance from
Phebe-Esther Bacon College of Health Sciences, Zorzor District Health Team, and Curran
Lutheran Hospital for a study. The investigator will ensure anonymization, use data solely for
research purposes, and inform workers of their participation options.

INTRODUCTION
Personalized hearing aid devices have the potential to significantly improve hearing
quality and user satisfaction for individuals with hearing loss ("Hearing aid satisfaction: What
does research from the past 20 years say?" n.d.). These devices are tailored to individual
hearing profiles, taking into account the specific frequencies and levels of hearing loss for
each person. Research has shown that individualized hearing aids can provide a more precise
and targeted amplification of sounds, resulting in improved speech perception and an overall
hearing experience for the wearer. One study published in the Journal of the American
Medical Association found that personalized hearing aids led to better speech recognition and
reduced listening effort compared to standard hearing aids ("effectiveness of personal sound
amplification products in adults with mild to moderate hearing loss: Is their use inevitable?"
n.d.). Another study published in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research
demonstrated that participants who received personalized hearing aids reported higher levels
of satisfaction and improved communication abilities compared to those who used standard
hearing aids ("effectiveness of personal sound amplification products in adults with mild to
moderate hearing loss: Is their use inevitable?," n.d.). Furthermore, personalized hearing aids
can address specific challenges that individuals may face, such as difficulty hearing in noisy
environments or distinguishing speech from background noise. Overall, personalized hearing
aid devices have shown effectiveness in improving hearing quality and user satisfaction.
These devices can significantly enhance the lives of individuals with impaired hearing by
providing tailored amplification and addressing specific listening challenges.

HYPOTHESIS
Personalized hearing aid devices tailored to individual hearing exploring their effectiveness in
improving hearing quality.
SETTING
The research was conducted in the Curran Lutheran Hospital, Zorzor District, Lofa County,
Republic of Liberia.
DESIGN
The study was conducted at Curran Lutheran Hospital in Zorzor District, a private
hospital with a staff of around 80.
The research will involve observation, desk-review, and
internet information, with a descriptive survey design and a quantitative research
methodology questionnaire.
The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of personalized
hearing aid devices in enhancing hearing quality and user satisfaction. The target group
includes all registered healthcare professionals at the institution, including those in key
departments like the specialty clinic, accident and emergency department. The study used
stratified random sampling to select a sample size of 50% responses, dividing the population
into strata based on ranking or position.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
The researcher asked for ethical clearance from Phebe-Esther Bacon College of
Health Sciences. The Zorzor District Health Team and Curran Lutheran Hospital will also
5
approve the study before it can be conducted. The personnel at Curran Lutheran Hospital will
be contacted to get authorization after the communication's purpose has been outlined in a
draft. The investigator will ensure that any data they view or receive is anonymized and
utilized solely for this purpose. Additionally, they will inform the workers of their freedom to
decline taking part in the study.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
The time shown for the conduct of the research has no conflicting time with other
activities that I am engaged with.
RESULTS/ DISCUSSION
Findings from the two research instruments – relevant articles from Pubmed and Google.com
are presented in this section.
