The children were given journals, markers, and colored pencils to express their thoughts, experiences, or imaginative stories. Complete below with specific evidence to link your session to the unit learning outcome and assessment criteria (Please continue on next page if necessary) This activity aligns with the unit's learning outcome of nurturing emergent literacy skills. The assessment criteria for this outcome emphasize the development of children's writing proficiency, self-expression, and reflection. Session Record and Reflective Journal (V2) Sept 2016 Date: D D / M M / Y Y
Reflective practice and points of action: Remember that this should be a valuable reflective practice , and demonstrate that you can identify areas for your own development, as well as improvements that have already been made in your performance. This should be completed in every instance and you should provide approx.175 words. You must ensure that this is signed by your mentor / supervisor and uploaded to the portfolio system. Supervisor’s Signature Date: D D / M M / Y Y Remember that you may support this with additional records, photographs and plans where appropriate. All can be uploaded to the portfolio system via the ‘optional evidence upload’ button in Pearl. Session Record and Reflective Journal (V2) Sept 2016 How did the activity go overall? The activity went well, with the children displaying enthusiasm for writing in their journals. What went particularly well? The children embraced the opportunity to freely write about their experiences and share their emotions through their journal entries. What went not so well? Some children faced challenges with spelling and constructing sentences, leading to moments of frustration. What would you do differently next time? Next time, I would consider providing brief mini-lessons on basic writing skills before beginning the journaling activity to help children feel more confident. Feedback or actions from your mentor: My mentor recommended offering spelling resources or assigning a spelling "buddy" to children who struggle with spelling difficulties.
