Report
Research Plan for Weeks 6 - 8 Due: Sunday of Week 6 Revisiting Driving and Sub-questions You have your current driving and sub-questions recorded in your research log. Locate whatever your current driving and sub-questions are. Also, look at and consider the feedback you’ve gotten on your first draft. Are there any directions suggested there that you agree with that you could develop further sub-questions for, or adapt any of your current questions to incorporate? Complete the chart below with any revisions or additions that are helpful to your project. (There are 5 sub-questions, but you can have more if you find that useful. I recommend no more than 8 maximum though, for this project.) If you do not need to revise or expand your research questions, just note that below. Current Research Questions Revised and Expanded Research Questions Driving: How did COVID-19 result in climate change? Was it good or bad? Sub-Question 1: Did masks affect pollution simply because of the sheer garbage they created, leading to climate change? Sub-Question 2: Did Covid 19 cause less pollution due to people being inside? Sub-Question 3: How did a lack of deforestation due to COVID-19 regulations affect climate change? Sub-Question 4: How did mass exporting industries such as Amazon affect climate change? Sub-Question 5: How did climate change during COVID-19 affect government policies Driving: How did COVID-19 Regulations affect global climate change? What were the positives and negatives? Sub-Question 1: Was the global climate change irregular at all during COVID-19? Sub-Question 2: Was the relationship between COVID-19 and global climate change related to people staying inside due to quarantine regulations? Sub-Question 3: During COVID-19, regulations put the lumber industry to a halt, how did this lack of deforestation affect global climate change? Sub-Question 4: How did online shopping affect climate change, as the influx of people indoors led to a mass amount of products
being shipped internationally? Sub-Question 5: How did governments face the sudden climate change during COVID-19? Did they put in positive protocols or take advantage of the somewhat convenient extension? Connecting your sub-questions to your driving question: Now, with your revised driving and sub-questions, articulate the connection you see between the sub-question and your driving question. How does the sub-question relate to and help you answer your driving question? Being able to answer this can help you think about how the different aspects of your discussion fit together. Fill out the table below with your sub-questions and a sentence that describes how each connects to your driving question. Your driving question again: Sub-question One or more sentences that clearly describe the connection of this sub-question to your driving question. How did COVID-19 Regulations affect global climate change? What were the positives and negatives? Addressing the specific impact of COVID-19 on the global climate. By asking whether there were any irregular changes in the climate during the pandemic, the subquestion sheds light on the potential effects of reduced human activity and travel on the environment, which can provide insights into the positives and negatives of COVID-19 regulations on global climate change. Was the relationship between COVID-19 and global climate change related to people staying inside due to quarantine regulations? Focusing on the specific cause-and-effect relationship between COVID-19 regulations and global climate change. The subquestion inquires about the role of quarantine
regulations, which resulted in people staying inside, and its impact on the environment and the climate. This helps to clarify the extent to which COVID-19 regulations affected global climate change, and whether this impact was positive or negative. During COVID-19, regulations put the lumber industry to a halt, how did this lack of deforestation affect global climate change? The subquestion focuses on the halt of the lumber industry due to COVID-19 regulations and its effect on deforestation and, as a result, on global climate change. By examining this particular aspect of COVID-19 regulations, the subquestion contributes to a better understanding of the overall impact of COVID-19 regulations on the environment and the climate and whether this impact was positive or negative. How did online shopping affect climate change, as the influx of people indoors led to a mass amount of products Mass exporting relates directly to the driving question as major shipping corporations such as UPS, USPS, FedEx, and Amazon have brought about a large carbon footprint due to the influx of shipping from online shopping? How did governments face the sudden climate change during COVID-19? Did they put in positive protocols or take advantage of the somewhat convenient extension? COVID-19 brought about much-needed breathing room for governments and institutions to be able to recuperate and find a medium in order to move towards green energy and policies. This relates directly to the driving question as it provided opportunities to move towards cleaner and more sustainable energy. Identifying Your Sources and Research Gaps This section asks you to look at what sources you have in order to identify any existing gaps. Don’t worry if you have gaps–at this point, that’s expected! Also remember that the research project requires 6-10 credible, college-level sources and that at least 3 of those need to be scholarly (peer-reviewed). Keep that in mind as well while you consider what kinds of sources you still need.
