This unit will focus on the Fantasy genre. The notes for the unit involve how to re-vision something that was already created. The discussion focuses around character and how they affect the story. The Learning Journal will have you re-vision the story you wrote the last time. This unit also features a Graded Quiz on the subjects from Units 1-6. It is strongly recommended that you take the Self-Quiz before attempting the Graded Quiz. For your Discussion Assignment, you will discuss your favorite character from the story you read and explain why the character is your favorite? In addition, you must extend the discussion by responding to at least three (3) of your peers’ postings in the Discussion Forum and by rating their posts. Instructions for proper posting and rating are provided inside the Discussion Forum for each week. Learning Journal For this Learning Journal, you will revise the creative short story you wrote in Unit 5. You will write it in a different genre. It can be as little as 500 words or as much as 1000 words. Your paper will be graded on your style of composition, use of literary elements for storytelling and how well you have been able to modify the previous story to suit the new genre. Please read the rubric to find out how you are going to be graded. Assessment criteria for this assignment are located on the home page in Unit 6 Learning Journal. Self-Quiz The Self-Quiz gives you an opportunity to self-assess your knowledge of what you have learned so far. The results of the Self-Quiz do not count towards your final grade, but the quiz is an important part of the University's learning process and it is expected that you will take it to ensure understanding of the materials presented. Reviewing and analyzing your results will help you perform better on future Graded Quizzes and the Final Exam.
