5-2 ASSIGNMENT 3 First Draft of Critical Analysis Essay “Do you know someone who needs hours alone every day?” (Rauch,2003) was the question that Jonathan Rauch opened with his article Caring for you Introvert, the article continues by asking several questions to help the readers to identify their introvert . The article main claim was that the readers that have families and friends who are introvert are not being understanding and caring to them is agreeable because the author includes how although an introvert could be out going they need time to recharge and require alone time to do so and can seem like they are stuck-ups and arrogant, extroverts have no idea they are tormenting introverts, and the unwritten rule that extroverts are better than introverts with engaging in social activities like politics and public speeches.( Rauch,2003) Body paragraph 1 Once Rauch asked his series of question to help identify the readers introvert, he stated if the readers can say yes to any of the questions which will indicate that they may have an introvert that they are not “caring for”, (Rauch,2003) making them one of the most “misunderstood and aggrieved groups of people in America, possibly the world” (Rauch,2003) Forbes article by Christina Park Introverts There’s Nothing Wrong With You is an article that helps the readers Identify if they’re an introvert. Introvert coach Beth Buelow and the author of her book Insight: Reflections on the Gifts of Being and Introvert explained how introverts in the workplace are oppressed because the organization tells their workers they need to be more outspoken, assertive, get out their shells, be serious, and not be a shy turtle. (Park,2014) Rauch explains that that people misconceptions of an introvert being nonsocial is false, he describes himself as being social, love engaging in long conversations that are meaningful, and confident but just long doses of people can be tiring. (Park,2014) When introverts feel overwhelmed, they

5-2 ASSIGNMENT 4 like to engage in alone time that can help them “recharge”. Recharging helps the people in the community to have deep taught, and brainstorm new ideas. Making them the opposite of extroverts, the people in the extrovert community enjoy long conversations that might not carry any meaning. Extroverts feel that being “alone” means that the person is shy or even depressed, they believed they are the life of the party and must be everywhere. While introverts can understand an extrovert for who they are, it seems that extroverts cannot understand why introverts need time to be “alone” at times, no matter how much an introverts explain to them. (Park,2014) Body 2 Extroverts are number one group of people that know how to oppresses and torment their fellow introvert peers. Introverts believe that with the extravagant personas, extrovert can seem outgoing, born leaders with can be oppressing to the introvert community, and can dominate leading fields like medicine, law, and politics. Rauch believed if introvert ran the world than it would be a peaceful place to live. He believed that introverts could “think before they speak” and “analyze a situation before taking actions” and these characteristics are what a leader should have. Unfortunately, introverts are seen as unnatural in said fields especially politics, Jenn Granneman stated in These 19 ‘Extroverted’ Behaviors Annoy Introverts the Most, number 6 False assumptions about introverts the author stated that introverts are great leaders, actors, and even funny comedians and can be very successful in any field they are in. (Granneman, 2020) With extroverts that desire to over engage in things it gives the illusion of being out going, having leadership skills, and being confident. While there’s many introvert people who are famous and successful like Bill Gates who’s a software developer, Albert Einstein who was a genius, Abraham Lincoln who was the 16 th President, Al Gore who’s a former vice president,
5-2 ASSIGNMENT 5 J.K. Rowling who is a famous writer (Harry Potter book serious) and many other famous people who are all introverts but is doing/did exceptionally well in their fields. Body 3 Now none of these authors are claiming that introverts are better than extroverts, but that the introverts can do what they need to do to get the job done. Some potential pros of an introverts are they can be thoughtful because they are self-aware, great listeners, strong observational skills which studies have shown that introverts are able to observe people and situations, and not as impulsive as extroverts in situations. (Strong & Greene, 2022) Introverts prefer meaning full friendships, are great with doing activities alone but let’s not downplay them they are great leaders and can work with others very well. Introverts at the end of the day need time to recharge and downtime after socializing. Conclusion Being an introvert or an extrovert is not an awful thing, the main issue is that introverts are seen as a bad name to be called, like a taboo. But, like Rauch embarrassing one’s introverts’ self will be able to open so many doors for them. Extroverts should be able to better understand their fellow introverts, understanding why they are the way they are and how to comfort them.
