Amanda Carruth English 101P 19 October 2023 Mini Annotated Bib Silva, David. “Clinical ethicists’ perspectives on organisational ethics in Healthcare Organisations.”  Journal of Medical Ethics , vol. 34, no. 5, 1 May 2008, pp. 320–323, https://doi.org/10.1136/jme.2007.020891 . In this article it talks about ethics in healthcare organizations. They did a study across eighteen clinics in Toronto, Canada and in this study, they found the issues of ethics in clinics. The issues they found include resource allocation, conflicts of interest, and staff moral distress linked to the organization’s moral climate. They talk about the growing demand for ethics in healthcare and reshaping how ethics play a part in healthcare while still being effective with training to complete clinical ethics education. From this article I learned that there are many more issues than I thought about ethics in healthcare. Being effective with ethics in organizations is important because you can re-evaluate how people are working and if they can stay with their training. This source is good for my essay because it talks about the direct issues that I’m talking about and provides studies that I can use to further prove my point.
“Ethics in Healthcare - Strategies and Tips for Improving Patient-Centered Care.”  Dignity Health Global Education , Dignity Health, dhge.org/about-us/blog/ethics-in-healthcare-patient- centered-care . Accessed 22 Oct. 2023. This article talks about what ethics is in healthcare, why it is important, and how it is patient centered. Patient-centered care (PPC) is care that empowers the patient and their families. Doctors and other people in the field, work with the patients to better understand their needs and go based off that to make health decisions that work for their specific needs and goals. It also talks about the different associations that exist in healthcare. Professionals have many rules they must follow, for example the American Medical Association is specific to physicians. They have different rules spanning across physicians to nurses and even social workers. I learned from this article that there are different codes of ethics based on what position you work in the medical field. Guidance can help professionals communicate and make decisions with families and patients with things that could change their lives forever. This article can help me in writing my essay because it lays out different codes of ethics in different professions and explains examples of failures in ethics.
Fleischman, Alan R. “Physicians and Ethics in the Health Care Reform Debate.”  Hastings Cent Rep , vol. 24, no. 3, 1994, pp. 10–11, https://doi.org/10.2307/3563384 . This article talks about ethics and the debate in how we can reform health care. It talks about how physicians should be consulted and should follow the code of ethics that are in their lines of work. They do not speak with a single voice; their views are about the values that can be fostered and corrected for health care reform. People in health care and politicians have greatly placed emphasis on the technological advances in modern medicine. In this article I learned how high-tech treatments will receive judgment with health care reform to ensure that services are effective. This will and will not help my essay, it will help by showing the debates in health care reformation. The rest of this article is hard to read and contains little information that will be helpful to me and my essay.

Asare, Patience, et al. “Ethics in healthcare: Knowledge, attitude and practices of nurses in the Cape Coast Metropolis of Ghana.”  PLoS One , vol. 17, no. 2, 2022, pp. e0263557– e0263557, https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0263557 . This article talks about how nurses in Cape Coast Metropolis of Ghana should keep updating their knowledge so they can be will-informed of new ethical issues that arise in their practices. They talk about a study they did to collect data from 264 nurses in three healthcare facilities. This study was a bunch of questions about ethics. The study showed that 78% of nurses had good ethical knowledge and 98% had good ethical practices. This article let me learn about the study they did and how ethics can affect nurses. Also, what can be done to improve these results. Different locations can play a big part into how ethical a hospital is, for example if a hospital is in a run-down part of a city or country, ethics may not have such a big impact on people. If they were in a higher end part of the country, ethics would play a big part into how they run a hospital. This article can help my essay by using the study to show how ethics can be good if practiced the right way.
Weber, Leonard J.  Business Ethics in Healthcare beyond Compliance . Indiana University Press, 2001. In this book it talks about how businesses can play apart in healthcare. There are always two sides to a hospital, the patient care side, and the business side of things. Depending on the budget they put out for the year can help or not help the patient care part of the business. If a healthcare organization is modeled on the business to a high return on investment, the cost of medical benefits is seen as an expense and should be kept as low as possible. This book let me learn more about the business side of the medical world and how there are different ways to run a medical facility while still being ethical. I don’t think I will use source in my essay because I couldn’t find anything that directly relates to my topic. Also there are no studies I could find in the parts that I read that tell me about the ways ethics play apart in business.
Goirand, Magali, et al. “Implementing Ethics in Healthcare AI-Based Applications: A Scoping Review.”  Science and Engineering Ethics , vol. 27, no. 5, 2021, pp. 61–61, https://doi.org/10.1007/s11948-021-00336-3 . This article talks about how AI can change how the frameworks of ethics. AI-based Healthcare Applications (AIHA) are now challenging existing ethics and regulatory frameworks. Artificial Intelligence was made in 1955 and was recognized as a technology that could help reshape healthcare and society at large. In the article I learned how AI can be used to change how ethics in healthcare works and how it can reshape society as a whole. There are many ways AI can be defined but the original definition is “the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by people.” I will use this source in my essay because it is interesting and can help me in writing this essay.
