Rhetorical Analysis Of A Public Document
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's information page was really useful.
Because of the material supplied by the website, which taught me a lot about ADHD, the facts
considerably broadened my understanding of the illness. One of the most widespread
misconceptions regarding ADHD is that it is a rare behavioral disease affecting just a tiny
number of youngsters. In actuality, ADHD is a much finer issue, and we owe it to our young
people who suffer from it to take it seriously and to continue study so that we can better diagnose
individuals who suffer from it and give personalized treatment regimens to help them.
Identifying ADHD, Identifying the Different Types, Understanding the Different Causes of
ADHD, and Getting Help are the categories that the writers divided the material into. I'll look at

how well the CDC site communicated its message using rhetorical tactics including ethos,
pathos, and logos. I'll also look at how these rhetorical arguments were used by the authors.
The CDC's fact sheet is an excellent example of how to introduce a subject to an audience
by demonstrating credibility and accuracy while delivering statistics. Ethos is all about
trustworthiness—does the source come from reputable and dependable research? A writer might
utilize ethos to demonstrate to readers why they are the ideal person to write or speak on a
certain topic or issue (
Säntti, 2018)
. Experiences, education, employment, and study may all help
to build ethos in a writer. The CDC provided amazing statistics and little-known facts for the
audience to learn more about. The fact page caught my attention enough that I felt compelled to
research further to supplement what I had already learnt. Experts frequently used this argument
in the CDC fact sheet because of the substantial dependence on specific examples. According to
the findings, ADHD is divided into three categories: inattentive display, hyperactive display, and
integrated perception.
The document has also utilized pathos as a rhetorical appeal. Emotional manipulation is a
big part of pathos appeals. Pathos can trigger a variety of feelings in the reader, ranging from
sadness to wrath. These appeals are quite effective in connecting with the audience and
personalizing the message (
Brennan, 2017)
. The CDC information sheet successfully appealed to
the emotions of the audience by refuting common misconceptions about ADHD. According to
the information sheet, research demonstrates that ADHD is not caused by consuming too much
sweets or watching too much television. Because of the many underlying causes, ADHD is
notoriously tough to manage. Using real-life examples, the CDC information sheet made ADHD
less stigmatizing and more approachable for parents and teachers. The CDC has done an
excellent job of dispelling some of these myths by providing succinct, factual facts that shed

light on the disorder itself, and this information sheet and my research have led me to believe
that there are many myths surrounding ADHD, and the CDC has done an excellent job of
dispelling some of these myths by providing succinct, factual facts that shed light on the disorder
itself and gave a clear information on ADHD.
When assessing a logos appeal, check how rational the argument is and how effectively it
is backed by evidence. You are pondering what aspects of the document might lead a reader to
feel that the argument is reasonable and supported by sufficient evidence. Reliable factual
information, according to the CDC facts website, can help educate and refute some popular
myths regarding ADHD, which is more shockingly hard than most people know. According to
Faraone, ADHD has a strong genetic component that can manifest itself in a variety of ways.
"Current knowledge of ADHD's origins and etiology stresses the interaction of biological,
psychological, and social elements."
The CDC has done a fantastic job of disseminating information on ADHD. Aside from
the clichés that are passed about, the average person may not know much about the illness. The
fact page effectively delivered its key point to a broad audience and acted as a springboard for
further inquiry using all three modes of appeal. In this study, I looked at the CDC's use of
rhetorical methods including ethos, pathos, and logos, as well as how they were used to make
their case.
