SUBJECT:
Cybersecurity Attack on Electric and Connected Vehicles
As per our discussions, I have examined the current cybersecurity problems in light of the move
towards connected and electric vehicles in the automobile industry.
Primary Idea
The article reveals serious cybersecurity flaws related to vehicle modernization but does not
name the creator. It draws attention to the dangers of identity theft, carjacking while in motion,
and possible disruptions to the power system. The vehicle's ability to represent, the internet, and
electric charging stations present these hazards.
The intricacy of cyberattacks.
With automobiles depending more and more on complex software, the risk of cyberattacks
increases. Interestingly, a significant amount of computer code is installed in current cars, even
electric vehicles (EVs), making them more vulnerable to hackers.
Enhanced susceptibilities
The accessibility and possibility for manipulation of public EV charging stations provide a
greater risk, impacting both car security and the wider infrastructure. Even though there haven't
been any significant hacking instances, the car industry is aggressively looking for solutions to
these new cybersecurity issues. It will need a coordinated effort from all parties involved in the
automotive supply chain to properly address these challenges.
The Regulatory Framework
According to the story, Transport Canada has the power to order automakers to fix cybersecurity
flaws even though there aren't any laws controlling vehicle cybersecurity in Canada currently.
In summary
New cybersecurity challenges are anticipated as connected and autonomous vehicles become
more commonplace, necessitating constant innovation and attention to detail from all
stakeholders. These concerns must be understood for our company to provide strategic planning
and advising services to the automobile industry.
Sincerely,
Kumari Shelja
