My Argument Analysis
Both my tutor at the writing center and my one–on–one peer reviewer mentioned that there is not
enough evidence. They said that my proposition and reasons are evident; however, I do not have
enough supporting details to convince readers of my argument. In my next draft, I plan to add more
evidence in order to strengthen my claim while attempting to keep my argument accessible to a
variety of readers.
Another thing my writing tutor mentioned was including the names of experts in the field. This is
for two reasons. The first is to give some credit to the authors who originally helped to propose the
ideas I mention and use as evidence. Editorials in The New York Times do not typically provide
citations, but they do, at times, acknowledge their sources by mentioning

This is for two different reasons. The first is that I lack effective transitions between paragraphs. The
second is that the short paragraph structure separates evidence from reasons and makes my line of
reasoning seem choppy and hard to follow. In order to fix this issue and build coherence, I plan to
combine some paragraphs and provide more effective transitions throughout. I also plan to link my
reasons and evidence back to my proposition more effectively in order to strengthen my argument.
My writing tutor said that my introduction and conclusion could both be more effective. While the
use of rhetorical questions in them is good, they lack an attention–grabbing aspect. In order to make
the introduction better, I have several options. I can provide an anecdote to lead into the piece, go
right to my proposition without introduction, or continue with the list strategy but lengthen it. The
main objective is to make the introduction like a news hook. In terms of the conclusion, the

When writing a document it is helpful to follow some basic fundamentals in sentence structure and
word usage. It is helpful to keep sentence structure simple, to avoid ambiguity and use words the
reader understands. To assure success in writing it is also helpful to have a consistent point of view,
use a consistent verb tense (past, present or future), use parallel structure to emphasize the theme
and sound authoritative and use an active voice rather than a passive voice. Additionally the tempo
should be varied by using short and long sentences, avoid profanity and spell the words correctly. I
think using words that can be easily understood and not having misspelled words are the most
important in writing effectively. If there is doubt about a words being used then it should be clearly

The health warning could be a warning by the FDA, against cigarettes. This is a more literal
example, because the warning states reasoning behind why someone shouldn't smoke cigarettes.
However, the cigarette companies can have a counterargument, by how they display this health
warning. If it is small and in the corner, they may be implying that this information isn't important,
or irrelevant. Also the verbal warning in commercials could be a counterargument to the argument
of the health warning. Some may see the health warning as a way to show those around them that
they don't care about the risks, and are dangerous. When a cigarette company states these warnings
quietly this could mean they do not think the listener need to know this, or they do not want the user
to hear the message. The FDA could fight back, by creating laws about how large this label has to
be, or at which speed this message must be read at. Recently in India, it has been the law for

Writing a top essay takes time and patience. Even the best novelists in the world spend years reading

Goodman's Argument Analysis
Looking particularly at the prestigious universities, such as Harvard and other Ivy League colleges,
he does point out that employers will be more impressed that you were at a prestigious university
than what your grades were like. I would have to agree because it is similar with other employers

you are saying that you believe that the judiciary should leave it up to Congress and the President to
determine the policies and procedures. I think that this argument is well supported by Scalia's
assertion in his dissent. He states that" the Court [breaks] a chain of precedent as old as the common

Moves That Matter in Academic Writing, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein provide templates
designed to give students a taste of the language and patterns that sophisticated writing requires.
These templates focus writers' attention on what is being said while also helping them to focus on
rhetorical patterns. Specifically, Graff and Birkenstein argue that the most effective writing template
they offer is the "they say_____, I say_____" formula. This formula expresses personal ideas ("I
say") in response to another person or group ("they say"). This is the underlying structure of
effective academic writing. It prompts students to progress in their writing in ways they might have
not otherwise done. As the authors themselves put it, "listening closely to others and summarizing
what they have to say can help writers generate their own ideas." Although some people believe that

find whole "political experience" question is often loaded. It is a useful and facile way to "settle" a
political argument. When conversing with people who one disagrees with politically, declaring all
politicians inherently bad is an easy way to gain "consensus" and be at liberty to criticize any
candidate without appearing to disparage the beliefs of the other person. It is therefore used so often
it's become some form of "conventional wisdom". But it's too simplistic. I think the key issue is
political awareness and understanding. It takes years to develop a comprehensive understanding of
politics. It is not something that can be taught to a candidate by their staff at a "candidate
bootcamp". This is true for all political offices with maybe the exception of major and city council.

It has a completely different set of priorities and objectives and it is certainly not for profit. Just
because both have budgets, payrolls, and management it does not make them the same animal.
Anyone who pretends that they are, lacks that awareness and understanding that I mentioned in my
second paragraph. So while the "I prefer someone who is not a politician" mantra seems like good
thing to many people it is not a sound argument if applied indiscriminately. It confuses causation
with correlation. Many politicians happen to be greedy egomaniacs who govern ineffectively. It's
not because they are politicians. They did not learn to be that way after getting into office. They
were born and raised greedy egomaniacs. So that's your first clue as to why, not just Trump, but
many of the non–serious Republican nth tier candidates are not good candidates. Because for the
most part they already exhibit the bad qualities of bad politician AND can't even make up for it by at
least having some political acumen that could make them in any way

What is an argumentative passage analysis?
In a passage analysis, you take some piece of written prose which contains an argument and extract
the argument from it. In order to do this, you must identify the conclusion of the argument, as well
as any premises that support the conclusion, and structure them in such a way that the argument is
clearly valid (if indeed it is valid in the passage).
Here is an example of an argumentative passage:
Socrates is a man, and all men are mortal. As such, Socrates is mortal.
Properly analysed, this passage could be put into premise
–conclusion form as follows:
Socrates is a man.
All men are mortal.
∴
Socrates is mortal.
That was an easy example. Sometimes it's more difficult to tell which claim is the conclusion and
which are the premises. Consider:
But of course, this argument is terribly misguided. After all, by any reasonable definition of the
word "
human
," an unborn child of any age is as much a human as you or me. That is why abortion is
never permissible. The aforementioned argument is right to say that it is never permissible to kill
humans, but wrong to say that fetuses are not humans.
This passage is much more difficult to formalize. The first problem we encounter is that it's not clear
which sentence contains the thesis. We may be tempted to look towards the first and last sentences
for a clue, but it seems unlikely that either of these is the main point being argued by the author. At

David Hume's Argument Analysis
In this passage, Hume purports two ways of coming to a rationally justified belief. The first is by
means of infallible experience, that is, past experiences that are so certain to us that it would be
unwise to dismiss them. For example, most people know that if you drop something, it will fall.

Underdetermination is essentially a skeptical view of experimental evidence, arguing that
experimental results, for a variety of reasons, are not sufficient to determine the theories we derive
from them. One of the most essential reasons for underdetermination is the fact that in order to come
to a theory as a result of experimentation, a person must already hold certain theories to be true,
leading to a circular system of proofs, which lead to the conclusion that scientific theories cannot be
concluded through rationally justified means. Underdetermination combined with Hume's definition
of rational justification leads to the conclusion that we most likely cannot rationally justify scientific
theories because our only method of rational justification, according to Hume, is scientific evidence,
and according to underdetermination, that scientific evidence is insufficient to determine scientific
theories, resulting in an inability to prove any scientific theory true or false. The ultimate implication
of the combination of these two ides is that the scientific process does is not one that results in true
or false conclusions, because the conclusions reached are not rationally justifiable. This causes the
removal of any truth value from the scientific process. To put it simply, if Hume and
underdeterminism are true, science has no means of proving anything true or false. However, this is
not to say that scientific theories then become utterly useless, but rather to push science from
realism to instrumentalism, which is an inevitable result of the theses of Hume and
