2 ENG 123 Project Three This is my reflection essay, the final project in ENG-123-R6110 English Composition II 23EW6. Since the beginning of this course, I have grown as a writer, became better at researching credible facts, proper source integration, and found which writing strategies worked best for me. I have grown as a writer because I am able to write a clear and well-thought-out persuasive essay. I did receive one comment from my instructor that I need to make sure I had a thesis statement at the end of my introduction paragraph. I only received one peer’s feedback. This classmate was confused with my goal and argument contradicting one another. My goal is to have more women pursue STEM-related careers so that gender bias will deplete. When I was writing my final draft, I made sure that I wrote a thesis statement as the last sentence in the introduction paragraph with three key points. This allowed me to keep the paragraphs organized and flow with the facts in my argument. During my revision, I agreed with my classmate that my argument and goal were contradicting each other. I did go back and tweak my argument and goals for clarity, and I feel that the paper is more understandable and makes a great argument. . I was able to include scholarly facts that were credible and using the C.R.A.P.P.O. sheet helped me determine that my resources were credible and not outdated. I also found that using the Boolean words did help with finding more precise research. My only downfall was finding credible counterargument resources. This was very difficult. I was able to find one fact regarding my counterargument and incorporated it into my paper. I didn’t receive any feedback on my research criteria on my rough draft. I feel that my argument was clear and precise.
3 ENG 123 Project Three Although I never received any feedback on my source integration, I feel confident that I was able to summarize, paraphrase, and quote correctly. I used several statistical numbers and quoted text from scholars and doctors. I made sure I cited and quoted my text and input the resource information on my reference page. This is something I always make sure of because I never want to be accused of plagiarism, even if it’s accidental. My writing strategies now are mind mapping. I found this to be helpful with this paper. I have used this technique in history and science in my high school years but never in a persuasive essay. It really was helpful to me. I normally take notes from my research, establish a thesis statement, and then I free flow the rest. I feel sometimes that my best work is when I free flow. My best thoughts and wording come through. I know we have to revise but sometimes I leave out great information or I start to put in irrelevant information that is too wordy. In the writing notes assignment, I did receive instructor feedback to target a specific audience. I did correct that in the first and final drafts. I was targeting girls and women that are or will be pursuing STEM- related careers. Another writing strategy that I used was writing a well-thought thesis statement with key points and my purpose. The key points kept my body paragraphs in order to allow my essay to flow clearly and understandable for the audience. In conclusion, I had a few feedbacks that I was able to utilize and apply to my final draft. This allowed me to target and give evidence to my audience in a clear and intelligible manner. The above paragraphs have given you an understanding of how I grew as a writer this term and how I incorporated the few but necessary feedback I received and incorporated it into my final

4 draft. I did become better at researching scholarly facts, I already knew the proper way of source integration, and I realized that mind mapping was a writing strategy that I really found useful. So, in the future, I can apply these techniques to write papers, research, and also help my kids with their papers.
