The two modifications I would use for gifted students would be providing tiered assignments based upon
the ability of the students and enhancing the students learning by providing enrichment opportunities.

As an elementary teacher in my classroom tiered assignments are use different levels of task to ensure the student explore ideas and use tasks at different levels to build on what has already been taught and to grow the students understanding: for example:
Elementary activities for book talk presentations.
Lower levels:
List what happened in the story.
Write a summary. Re-write the story changing the ending based upon evidence in the story.
Higher levels:
What is the purpose of the author writing the story?
Summarize the story changing the characters.
Give your opinion of the book and tell how you came to that conclusion. To enrich this particular activity, I would show the students a video of a clip-on students debating a particular book. Expressing their views and what they learned from the book of choice.
