Sequoya Boyd 10/09/2022 Grant Proposal Process Statement of need The declaration of need, which is also known as the issue statement in grant submission, is a critical element that communicates the funder's urgent requirements. It should align with the mission statement of your organization. The purpose of the statement of needs is to provide evidence of the program's needs, through factual data and personal stories. The effectiveness of a statement of needs depends on how well it addresses the issue. If you fail to provide all the necessary details required for the proposal, it can lead to flaws in the statement. Out-of-date or unsupported information can make it more difficult for the organization to get the grant proposal accepted. Dissemination of the proposal: Sharing your project's goals and achievements with others can help generate publicity for your sponsor and yourself. Dissemination is a plan to distribute research findings or products to those who will use the information in practice. The purpose of dissemination is to share knowledge and evidence-based interventions through various channels, social contexts, and settings. To ensure successful dissemination, it's important to start as early as possible, consider contextual factors, and ensure that the process is timely and relevant. Evaluation of the program: This is an important factor for the grant proposal it provides information to improve a project during its development and implementation. When you a writing an evaluation it is a few steps, you must take. These steps are to state the goal of
the program, state the objectives of the program, write the description of the program, and list the evaluation questions just to name a few. There are at least 35 different types of evaluation such as needs assessment, cost/benefit analysis, effectiveness, etc. The main goal of the evaluation of the program is to collect information about the program activities and objectives, monitor progress, and communicate results to the network members. Budget narrative: This is a helpful document that explains each item of the budget and how it relates to the project goals or objectives. To present a budget for a grant, it's important to have internal controls in place to improve financial transparency and understand the requirements of the funder. A budget justification is a way to convince a sponsor that the costs are reasonable and necessary for the project. The steps to writing a budget summary are to list the budget items, record the amount, write a description, and summarize the budget. The most effective budgeting method is zero-based budgeting, which assumes that all department budgets start at zero and must be built from scratch. References CFI. (2015).
