Salazar 1 Julissa Salazar Professor Plummer BCIS-1305-62601 Spring 2024 12/21/2023 Case Study 2 Lewis Lee is working on a project promoting a fictitious product for his marketing class. He wants to use animation to show the product being used, but the only animations he has created are in PowerPoint presentations. 1. Research three (3) animation apps for beginners: one 2-D animation app, one 3-D animation app, and one of your choices. Skillshare is the 2-D animation program that I would recommend to Lewis. Skillshare offers a diverse range of community-led classes in fields such as business, graphics, and music. Since lessons and instructors are of varying quality, this program is best suited for enthusiasts and people looking to supplement their previous expertise. A 3- D animation app I recommend is DAZ 3D. DAZ 3D is a 3D animation, figure posing, and rendering application designed for animators, illustrators, and designers. Synfig Studio is the final application I'd like to recommend. Synfig Studio is on-premises vector graphics software for creating 2D animations. 2. List the pros and cons of each animation app.
Salazar 2 Skillshare Pros: a wide variety of classes in design, illustration, and other creative fields classes backed by instructors who are leaders within their field short actionable classes with a lot of punch Cons: no certificates or official documentation requires hefty annual subscription fee not all classes are by instructors with solid credentials. DAZ 3D Pros: realistic character production easy customization powerful animation system Cons: only supports iOS and web-based devices limited animation options content compatibility issues Synfig Studio Pros: free and maintained by the community affordable
Salazar 3 Cons: difficult and confusing to get started complex for beginners to use the range of features is limited Lewis Lee also likes technology and video games, so he is thinking of pursuing a career as a video game designer. 1. Research the requirements of a video game designer. Lewis must have a bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer graphics to work as a video game designer. This degree program will provide him with vital knowledge and expertise in data administration, software principles, web development, and other areas. He will also require an IT certification or equivalent work experience. 2. What kinds of interests, skills, and courses do you need? Video game designers typically have artistic interests. They enjoy tasks that involve artistic shapes, designs, and patterns, and they favor work that allows them to express themselves. He should have problem-solving skills, technical writing abilities, written and spoken communication abilities, listening abilities, organization abilities, time management abilities, and teamwork abilities. Computer graphics programming, 2D animation, 3D art animation, digital artwork, graphic design, sound design, and special/visual effects are some classes Lewis could consider taking.

Salazar 4 3. What is a typical career path for someone in the video game field? Video game design can involve a variety of different fields including artists, graphic designers, animators and designers. This path is frequently occupied more with laying out a game's visuals than with completing a lot of development, but it can also include establishing UI/UX design and other gameplay components. The majority of video game design jobs fall into one of three categories: game artist, game designer, or game programmer. In the game design career, one selects their daily tasks, required abilities, and educational qualifications to be hired. Lewis Lee also volunteers at an animal shelter and helps with their fundraising efforts. He has shot a video of the animals and wants to post it on the web to encourage donations. However, the video he shot is a huge MOV file. 1. What can Lewis do to reduce the size of the video to about 20 MB so it loads quickly on the shelter’s webpage? Lewis can use a program like HandBrake to compress the video. HandBrake converts existing videos into new ones that work on your phone, computer, or web browser. Lewis can also cut out unnecessary parts of the video that make it longer. There may be unnecessary information taking up some of the space.
