2 Unit VIII Journal The criminal justice system has evolved over the years tremendously and has even further to advance in justice for all. In the future there will no doubt continue to be crimes that are committed by those who do not believe in the criminal justice system and those who believe that the criminal justice system does not apply to them. I believe that by obtaining my master's degree in homeland security, that I will be able to do my part as an American and keep this great country safe, unfortunately there will always be individuals in the world that hate for one reason or another and these individuals will do their best to spread fear and hate to the masses against the United States and homeland security is taking the necessary steps in keeping the United States safe from enemies both foreign and domestic, that wish to destroy it. I have faith that by learning the information necessary from my courses here at Columbia Southern that I will be well prepared to pursue my career in homeland security, or another law enforcement organization that stands by the mission of protecting the United States of America and its citizens. In this course what I have taken from it is that the essential infrastructures of the United States must not only be protected but they must also be well maintained simply because the future is not guaranteed and in the unfortunate event of a terrorist attack the country must be prepared in order to save as many citizens as possible and be able to sustain its resources for future generations to come. The country is strong, and the people are proud which is one reason why I am pursuing my education in homeland security, after the fallout of 9/11 many were devasted and still unable to fully heal and move forward in their lives, however many of the citizens of the United States
