Introduction
Over these past 5 weeks I have been using distinct types of strategies like cognitive therapy like deep breathing and relaxation techniques and I also implemented self-talk to manage
my anxiety with communication. I have also been practicing something else called assertive communication by attending speech classes. I have also been carrying conversation with diverse types of people to make my communication more well-rounded instead of talking to the same people all the time. I have found while talking to diverse groups of people that after taking my time I have become more aware of my body language and tone of voice before I begin speaking has been helping me.
So overall I have seen some surprisingly superior results. I have noticed that I am a lot calmer when I am carrying a conversation with diverse groups of people, and I have become more comfortable talking in front of others. I am also more comfortable expressing my opinions in conversations and I have grasped the concept of assertive communication. If I continue what io have been working on these past 5 weeks I am confident that I will reach my end goal with no issue since I have already started seeing progress on the things I have wanted to work on.
Literature Review
Over these past 5 weeks I have wanted to work on my public speaking skills since that is something that I have always had anxiety over and brought stress into my life for example when I was in high school I used to hate standing in front of the class to present a project because I always had the fear of being judged and that my work wasn't good but after reading these articles
I think I have gotten over that fear. Shermans article “Gaining confidence in public speaking” talks about tips like standing in front of a mirror or a small group of people and focus more on

the message that is coming out of your mouth compared to the people that are in front of you. After reading this article I took these tips into consideration, and I stood in front of a mirror and practiced my body language and it helped because I could see what everyone else was seeing and
I could get the feel of how I need to stand to present myself.
After reading this resource not only did it help me with tips and strategies, I did not know
existed to overcome anxiety, but it also boosted my confidence in my personal interactions with others. I am now more comfortable with public speaking in the future as well as anything that might have to do with an audience being involved because I have what it takes to get the job done.
Live Learning
I did not attend a live learning session in this class but I have in the past and I have liked it but I work so much I never had the time to actually be able to attend one but I was excited to attend one because I like hands on things and being in group settings and I am more comfortable now talking in front of people. In the future, I believe that with all the things I learned in this class through all the journal entries, discussion posts and readings, I have what it takes for whatever gets thrown at me in the future.
Next Steps
Moving into the future, I want to continue working on my interpersonal skills by continuing to set goals for myself. Examples of things I would like to work on in the future or touch on is my communication skills in professional settings, working on dealing with people that are hard to communicate with, and lastly using all the resources around me that are available

to overcome the communication obstacles that are thrown at me. To pursue these goals, I am going to go to classes for public speaking and continue reading books on the way of being effective while communicating and work on my communication skills in professional settings.
Conclusion
Lastly, I enjoyed this project throughout the class because these are skills I have struggled with my whole life, and it makes me happy to see progress I thought I would never see when it comes to reducing my anxiety with communication and just bettering my communication
skills. I have used several types of cognitive therapy like different breathing techniques and relaxation techniques as well as I included some self-talk and I also had different conversations with diverse groups of people to well round my communication skills that I have been working on these past 5 weeks. I have also found that taking my time before speaking in a conversation and keeping in mind my tone of voice and body language has helped me towards this goal. I believe that if I continue implementing these techniques and continue using the resources around me that I will continue surpassing milestones along the way.
