2 COM420 Module 6 Critical Thinking Option #1 – Data Visualization – Consumer Survey Introduction Adding visuals to a grouping of data can be a powerful tool in the realm of understanding. Nusserbaumer-Knaflic (2015) teaches us that providing visuals when presenting data sets is a fantastic way to captivate an audience, make the data easier to read, and also helps analyze results in the long run. Although the survey provided only had five total participants, the resulted data is enough to provide some stimulating visuals. Below are three such visuals chosen for both ease of execution, along with, data portrayed within each graph/chart. Column Graph The first graph is a simple column graph depicting the age range between the five survey participants. In order to display this information, I utilized the “insert” chart function within Excel and grabbed the appropriate data. What the depicted column graph is telling us, is that within the five participants the age ranges from 28 years of age, all the way to 42 years of age without any duplicated ages. This is presented in an easy way to read and displays nicely.
3 Bar Graph The second utilized visual chosen, is the bar graph. For this particular graph, the chosen data set is “Would you recommend using an agenda/planner to friends and/or family?”. This data had a various array of results on the 1 to 5 scale, hence why it was chosen for a visual aid. Pie Chart The third and final visual aid, is a pie chart depicting the data of what percentage of participants utilize their agenda for either work or for personal. Given the chart, it’s easy to see and read that 60% of participants utilize their planner for work purposes, whereas the remaining 40% use theirs for personal use.

4 Conclusion In conclusion, the visual aids that can be drawn out from a data set provides a much clearer understanding making the information available easier to read and understand as well as adding a “wow” factor to any presentation. Along with the written report I will also upload and submit the Excel spreadsheet for transparency on visuals created via survey. References
