Scholarship
In preparation as a CES student, Scholarship plays an essential role in research, writing, and publication. The challenge I am nervous about is preparing within a reasonable time frame to identify the appropriate research-based techniques. Neuer & Bowman, 2021 reported that “peer-
supported role career groups (p.203) can provide success to doctoral students. To imply scholarship roles within the program, I would try to identify appropriate tools and standard testing that can be proven from a different perspective than the standard perspective in the mental health field.
Teaching
Teaching is not only providing an education to other students but preparing us to lead and mentor others we meet throughout our journey. As the saying implies,” Practice what you preach.” teaching prepares us to have adequate training and become certified in the level of care within the mental health field so that we can also provide the proper training techniques towards de-
escalation, ways to approach clients who are becoming escalated into a potential crisis. Teaching also implies that as CES students, we continue to thrive and learn more skills that can be beneficial to advocate for those in need but also prepare for the newer generations who are also in the process of completing the same journey.
Professional Service
Professional service can imply community services, creating groups for those battling with day-to-day stressors, or becoming a member of an organization that provides leadership and commitment to being a social advocate within the community or your school network. Professional services
can also build a larger network within community agencies and school settings that require mental health services and provide a safe place for higher education students to feel connected with others. Professional services bring motivation and inspiration towards creating your platform, and
with social media becoming a big influence throughout the years, creating blogs, webcasts, and publishing books can promote the connect of change.
Mentoring students and supervisees
Mentoring students and supervisees can provide healthy feedback for
both parties. When we hear directive and constructive feedback, this plays a significant importance in allowing both parties to understand that this gateway is not to hurt or bring down anyone but to help them grow and realize how much this can go a long way when working in either profession. This helps us learn from correcting mistakes but not to beat ourselves down. This will also help us grow as learners and professionals. To be able to lead and not crack under pressure. Find ways to resolve conflict, but also understand that we are all humans; we make mistakes but learn from them. If we continue to feel that feedback is more likely to deteriorate us, we must investigate the bigger picture or identify if this is the right profession. Being able to mentor others can help me become a better leader and also a listening ear to those who need to express feelings, vent their frustration, and encourage others to continue to throughout all the challenges that are being faced, but also make the right decisions that are best for yourself.

D’Nia, I thoroughly enjoyed your post. What resonated with me the most was your emphasis on professional service. Professional service can play a crucial role in community services, creating
groups for those battling with day-to-day stressors or becoming a member of an organization that provides leadership and commitment to being a social advocate within the community or school network. According to Brown (2021), a scholarly community denotes a collective that is deemed significant for fostering the growth of researchers, facilitating social interaction, and enhancing the welfare of students. This approach can build a more extensive network within community agencies and school settings requiring mental health services and provide a safe place for higher education students to connect with others.
Regarding your discussion on feedback, have you considered the possibility that some students
and supervisees may not be receptive to feedback or may not have the necessary skills and knowledge to implement it effectively?
