solving skills to help you overcome challenges, set goals, manage your time, and communicate with others. Part 1: Overcoming Challenges
In Week 1, you completed the Success Prep Inventory (located in Ch. 2, Section 2.1.2 of your myBook, Powered by zyBooks) in which you were asked, “As you begin at the University of Phoenix, what do you think is your biggest challenge?” Reflect on this challenge and what you have learned over the past 5 weeks.

During the past 5 weeks some things i have been working on is working ahead, planning on a calendar, using a journal, not playing much video games, self control, and also balance
•
What resources (UOPX resources or otherwise) have you used to help overcome challenges?
Some resources i used is the library, the Phoneix Library to overcome some challenges. like for example i was struggling trying to figure out some research and i used the online research tool and it helped me a whole lot.

•
What specific short-term goals do you need to meet to achieve your long-term goal of graduating?
Some specific short term goals could be like getting an A in a class that you are having trouble with. And for your long term goal is to get All A's in classes by the end of college.
•
How does setting goals lead to success?
Goals lead to sucess because if u dont set a goal u wont be well motivated to work hard on the other hand if u set a goal you will try to work hard.

short term goal is where you can achieve something in the short future as to where long term goal is a long waited future like a set age to retire or get a good paying job.
Part 3: Time Management
Write a 50- to 75-word response to each of the following questions. Enter your response on a new line below the questions.
•
When you started this course, what was your initial estimate, in general, for the time required each week to spend on schoolwork? Was this estimate accurate? Why or why not? Each week i spend maybe 2-3 hr a week in my mind i dont think this was accurate bc sometimes i read stuff and sometimes i skipped bc i read before.
•
Discuss the schedule you developed for this course, GEN/201. What worked well with your schedule?
A schedule i developed for this course is still kinda chaotic due to how i still have work different days and ary but i usually just do my schoolwork at night bc that is the time i am focused and in need to work on something in the mornings i have little time to do school work due to my job.
•
Using the content taught in class, what time management skills can you implement to ensure success in future classes? (Be honest about your schedule, noting strengths and areas for growth.)
Some management skills i learned is to have a set time to do ur work and a set time when to take break bc when i work i forget to take breaks and im on for hours not noticing its late.
•
Are there areas where you struggled with time management? How do you plan to overcome these challenges? What resources are available to support you?
When it came to making the difference between make or break in college, time management was one of the most difficult parts for me the first few weeks of school, I would strive to do all of the assignments for the week as fast as possible, even if it meant skipping the assignment for the next week. I couldn't contain
my joy. Initially, I would begin thinking about the following week's task so that the topic would be relevant when it was time to give a response or finish an assignment. My initial estimation of the amount of time required for this course was based on some trial and error as well as a few family emergencies. When it comes to what I had planned, I discovered that I needed a little more time.
Part 4: Communication
Write a 50- to 75-word response to each of the following prompts. Enter your response on a new line below the prompts.
•
How has this course helped you develop more effective communication skills that you can use in future courses and in the workplace? Identify 2 specific communication methods (e.g., oral, written) and provide examples of how you might apply them in an academic or career setting.
This course has helped me develop more effective communication skills by teaching me how to better use
verbal and nonverbal communication, active listening, and empathetic responses. These are skills that I can use in future courses and in the workplace to better communicate with others.
•
Which of the 5 steps in the writing process (prewriting, organization, drafting, revising, editing) do you anticipate will be the most challenging for you? What is your action plan for overcoming this challenge? 1. One specific communication method that I have learned in this course is active listening. Active listening is a process of listening attentively to what another person is saying, while also trying to understand the meaning and context of what is being said. This is a skill that I can use in future courses when I am participating in group discussions, and in the workplace when I am having meetings or conversations with colleagues.
2. Another specific communication method that I have learned in this course is empathetic responses. Empathetic responses are responses that show that you understand and care about another person's feelings. This is a skill that I can use in future courses when I am interacting with classmates, and in the workplace when I am interacting with customers or clients.
•
Share a resource from the Center for Writing Excellence that will support you in the writing process.
My action plan for overcoming this challenge is to use the resources available to me through the Center for Writing Excellence. The Center for Writing Excellence is a great resource for writers of all levels, and it
has a lot of useful information and resources that can help me with the revising process. In particular, I am
going to use the resources on the center's website that focus on editing and revising writing. I am hopeful that these resources will help me to overcome the challenges that I am facing with revising my writing.

How do you plan to network both academically and professionally during your degree program? Refer back to Ch. 6 of your myBook to review this topic for help if needed. I plan to network both academically and professionally during my degree program by getting involved in student organizations, attending networking events, and reaching out to professionals in my field of interest. I think that these activities will help me to meet people with similar interests, to learn more about my field of interest, and to find potential jobs or internships.
