What are three characteristics of an effective teacher? (200 word count ) 1) String communication skills 2) Good listening skills 3) Adaptability The teaching field is an incredible field for those who are passionate and eager to help individuals learn, but there are some things that differentiate any typical teacher from an effective one. Three characteristics that make up an effective teacher would definitely be strong communication skills, good listening skills, and adaptability. First of all, an effective instructor has strong communication skills. They are able to convey their knowledge and ideas in a way that is easily understood by their students. They are able to explain concepts that may seem complicated to students by deconstructing them into simpler terms to help them understand. This also includes communication in the form of any visual aid- they are able to effectively make their students learn the concepts. A second characteristic would be good listening skills. An effective teacher is one that listens to their students in a way that they can understand what the students needs, as well as any problems and additional feedback from their students. A teacher that listens well to their students is able to modify their teaching methods and content to best suit each of their students. The latter statement leads me and connects to my third and last characteristic, adaptability. An effective teacher is able to change and adapt to different learning styles and classroom environments. Oftentimes, they also tend to refer to curriculum changes and are flexible enough to change teaching methods, all to better suit and expand their students’ learning.
