Worksheet - Final Proposal This Worksheet is REQUIRED. It will guide you through the preparation of the Final Proposal 1. Complete the Module 6 Readings (including Kolin Ch 13), activities and SWOT Analysis 1. NOTE: Proposal for Research Report is NOT an option for this project 2. Review the Final Proposal Assignment Guidelines & Rubric 3. Complete this Worksheet in preparation for writing the Final Proposal (due in Module 7) 4. Once completed, post in Discussion Board 6 for peer review 5. Use the peer and instructor feedback to edit and revise the Final Proposal Name your business/organization. Include a sentence to explain what it does so other students and I know the context. Simi Valley Unified School District. I would love to work in an elementary school as a speech and language pathologist or work with special needs children. Summarize your ideas for your Final Proposal: Be specific and provide sufficient context. I would like to propose new play equipment that is ADA compliant for all the children to use age 5-12 years old at the particular school I would be working for. Who is the audience for the Proposal? Is it an external or an internal proposal? My proposal is an internal proposal and my audience is the District Superintendent. What will be your proposal format? E.g., letter-style, memo-style? My style will be a letter format. What type of proposal will you write? E.g., will it be a Solicited Proposal in response to an RFP (Request for Proposal)? An Unsolicited External Sales Proposal? An Unsolicited Internal Proposal? (Note that a Proposal for Research Report is NOT an option for this assignment.) My proposal will be written in the style of an unsolicited Internal Proposal. I will be trying to convince the District Superintendent that we need a new ADA compliant play structure. List the parts for the proposal: (See Kolin Ch. 13 for appropriate parts for this type of Proposal - different types of proposals have different parts.) The purpose, the problem, the solution, and the conclusion
What kinds of research would you need to do for your proposal? Interviews? Site visits? Web research? (Some aspects of your research, such as site visits and interviews, will be hypothetical - i.e., research you would need to do if you were writing an actual proposal for your business/organization.) I need to do web research for cost of the play structure. I will do a site visit to record measurements of the location of the new structure. I will also get quotes for installation of the equipment. Will you complete a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats of your organization) as research for your proposal? How will you go about doing this? (Review SWOT Analysis in this module) I will not be using the SWOT analysis in my proposal. I do not think it will help with persuading the reader to agree with my proposal. What kind of visual/s will you use? What kind of data will your visual/s communicate? NOTE: Use of at least two or more visuals is required for the Proposal. I am going to use a graph with the data for the average overall cost for the play structure, installment, laying a foundation, laying a surface, and shipping cost. My other visual will be a picture of the play structure itself. Use adjectives and short phrases to describe the writing standards for the Proposal. (General writing standards, such as type of tone, diction, credibility, research, organization, ethics, attitude toward audience, research, etc. See Kolin Ch. 13 for discussion of norms for proposals.) The style I will be writing is a persuasive, problem-solving, realistic, and a direct tone.
