I think social media is an important context and is important in intercultural information. Social media platforms to include X, Facebook, and Instagram are a few of the platforms that allow a space from people all over the world to interact, discuss and show the different sides of their culture and what their day-to-day life is like. As toxic as social media can be I think it can and has been used for good things and it is important to realize it is no substitute
for going out and experiencing another culture firsthand or interacting with a
person or people from that culture. I have used social media to learn about other cultures, in particular the Italian culture where I was able to join a group on Facebook and they posted pictures of Italy and spoke about the meaning of the things in the picture. I also learned the significance of the piazza as a place for neighbors and town members to talk, and hangout.
