QUESTION
:
How is conducting graduate-level research different from research you did in your undergraduate program? Discuss aspects of credibility, reliability, and relevance in your response. Provide specific examples.
The DQ response must be 150-200 words and have at least one citation and one scholarly source to support your response. Cite any references accordingly using in-text citations and a reference list in APA format.
Research in graduate-level is expected to be more in-depth, more analytical, more credible sources; for example scholarly sources. Findings in a graduate-level research will need to have a narrower focus, authoritative, and recognized within a particular area of study. “
The graduate
research paper demonstrates the student’s ability to identify appropriate topics related to course
material and to exercise independence in both research and writing” (Research and writing at graduate level).
The students providing these insights and research findings will speak volumes
of their understanding and competency even among their peers; Also, by citing their work properly. This will help give confidence to the reader that you know what you are talking about.
Credibility is vital to graduate-level research. Credibility pertains to the author’s expertise, qualifications, and sometimes reputation. Credibility and reliability helps the researcher with the ability to discern between bias and different perspectives. The CRAAP Test is an amazing guideline when conducting graduate-level research. It stands for “Currency, Relevance, Accuracy, Authority, and Purpose” (
Research guides: Evaluating sources: the CRAAP Test). The CRAAP test is a reminder of the adequate things to look for in the source, and what a reliable source is supposed to have.
