When thinking about students you may have worked with that have varying communication challenges, it is important to consider how best to support the children.
Ques1:
What are some issues that can arise if they aren't able to effectively communicate and/or what are some experiences you've had when communication is hindered? (minimum 2 points)
Ans:
Social Isolation: Children who have trouble communicating may have trouble interacting with their peers. Feelings of social isolation and loneliness may result from this. They may avoid social situations and chances to meet new people if they are unable to express their needs, wants, or feelings. Their general social and emotional growth, as well as their self-esteem, may be impacted by this isolation.
Intellectual Difficulties: For students to succeed in school, communication must be effective. Children who struggle with communication may have trouble following directions, contributing to class discussions, or expressing their knowledge and opinions during evaluations. Academic difficulties, worse marks, and dissatisfaction may result from this. Such students might not achieve their full academic potential without the right help.
In my experiences, I have seen situations when communication barriers had a big impact on a child's general growth and well-being. These difficulties highlight the value of early support and specialized assistance in assisting kids with language disorders to get over these barriers and succeed academically and socially.
In the videos “I Can Soar: Angie” and “Meet Elle”:
What assistive technology and strategies are used to support the children?
Share 2 new things that you learned or found interesting
In the video, Dynavox is used to assist children in communicating. They utilize assistive technology to help them communicate since they are unable to do it on their own. For example, the Elle Dynavox user selects the photographs using her head as a mouse. With the help of this assistive technology, she learns numbers as well as many other things.
For the Angie they use voice output devices for the communication which helps her to say anything in any language. Her family use their own language and input into the device for communication. She understands everything but unable to speak but with the help of technology she uses to speak with their family and friends.
1.The ability to insert our own voice, which aids children in learning their various languages, is one of the novel aspects I found intriguing.
2.Additionally, I learned something new: people can communicate by using their head mouse. Technology aids in picture selection, and after that, communication is aided, which is pretty intriguing in videos.
Identify three examples of assistive technology that can be used to support children with speech, language, and communication impairments; include
name, description, why it is used, a picture of each example; provide picture attribution or hyperlink

Based on Ch. 19, identify 3 activities and/or strategies that educators can implement to promote communication, and language with children. 3 strategies to promote communication and language with children are given below:
1. Have fun with the kid and the language; use humour, simple rhymes, musical games, and easy puzzles (using beats that repeat themselves, echoes, etc.).
2. Avoid from opposing or pressuring the youngster (do not say "slow down").
3. Don't interrupt youngsters or appear rushed around them; young children need time to process their thoughts before speaking.
