Using biases in the class affects the way we are not focused on the strengths and that it is a process talking about the development of fine motor skills. At the age of three, for example, the important thing is that the child practices with scissors and it is important to model and teach him how to use them.
teachers must set a good example of integration, patience, and tolerance. By teachers watching themselves and being aware of their own biases, teachers can begin to set a good example for the children to follow.
When we see children making assessments, we must avoid giving opinions or making assumptions.
It is important to take anecdotal notes exactly in the child's voice. These biases affect the interpretations of the observations since it is not evaluating or taking exactly what the child says or can do in the different areas of development.
Reflection
As teachers it is very important to ask children questions about bias. Listen to their concerns and know how to respond professionally. These biases include social, racial, and cultural differences. Therefore, it is
very important to include books that exalt different cultures and how we are all different but with the same learning abilities.
As a teacher, have you noticed that you have used bias and have you reflected on it?
Like the strategies you have outlined to help Rose with this behavior. It is very important to praise the child every time his behavior is desired. Use positive guidance and set up classroom rules from the beginning of the year and have the children
decide the classroom rules. Remind them of
the agreements each time a transition is made.
Responding to your question, it is very important as teachers to form a relationship
of trust with parents, daily communication, being a good listener to the concerns or doubts that parents have about any behavior of their children.
Talk to parents respectfully about this behavior and share strategies and routines in class. Share resources that you can practice at home with Rose, share cleaning songs, positive guidance strategies, and praise your child.
