A.
“Practicing Presentation and Audience Skills Through Science Presentations”
1.
In this video you can see the teacher using Vygotsky’s cognitive development theory. Vygotsky’s theory is that there is a lot of development
through social interaction. I can see the teacher applying this in the way that in the beginning of the video she calls on several different students to share out load examples of what respectful listening and watching looks like. 2.
Calling on and interacting with each student is an example of Vygotsky’s theory because this provided an opportunity for students to learn from their classmates as they hear other/different answers. Students are able to
learn from the other students in this way as well as their teacher, who would be described as a more knowledgeable other. This is an example of
social learning.
B. “Using Discourse to Support Students' Understanding of Multiplying Fractions”
1.
One learning barrier that I observed in this video was the students who were learning English as their second language. This can be a barrier because it can make it difficult for the teacher to communicate with the students and the opposite, students having difficulty communicating with their teacher. The miscommunication causes learning to be affected. 2.
The teacher addressed this learning barrier by also having the learning objectives written in spanish. This causes for less communication and for everyone to understand while they are still learning. C. “Working with Quadratic Formulas”
1.
The example of Bloom’s Taxonomy that I saw demonstrated by the teacher was by giving them a task to complete. Each student solved a problem using the quadratic formula individually. Once each student had solves the problem, the teacher calls on students to share the answer that they got. The teacher than asks the student to share how they got their answer with the class. At the end the teacher shows the class how to properly solve the given equation using the quadratic formula. 2.
This is an application of Bloom’s Taxonomy because the students were able to that they understand
the quadratic formula by explaining how to use it. The students were able to apply
the quadratic formula when they iused it to solve the problem. They showed analyzing
in the way that the teacher broke down the steps to solve the problem.
