Synopsis and Analysis Report 3
Nickelodeon Show
1.
General Overview of Nickelodeon Show: What is the overall goal of your show? How does the organizational format realize these goals? How have you created a diverse, entertaining experience that features a wide-range of emotional experiences?
Overall, the goal for my Nickelodeon Show is to provoke emotion for the audience. There is also a message that I’m trying to send through my Nickelodeon Show to my audience, which is to stay strong and never give up. Each section of my Nickelodeon Show will consist of 2 elements, which is a music video and a short film. The way it will be organized is that a music video will be played first to introduce each section of my show, and
a short film will follow after the music video to conclude that section of my Nickelodeon Show. This organizational format will help accomplish the goal of provoking emotion while also sending a message to the audience because I made sure to choose meaningful music videos and short films that will provoke a wide range of emotions. I have created a diverse and entertaining experience by including content meant to appeal to
all age groups, such as comedic shorts, popular songs, and dramatic short films that will also feature a wide-
range of emotional experiences.
2.
Introduction Show: How are you introducing your show? What is your dramatic choice, and why did you make
this choice? Please include link(s) to media clips that open your show at the beginning of your response.
Journey - Don't Stop Believin' (Live 1981: Escape Tour -
2022 HD Remaster)
WiNDUP: Award-winning animated short film | Unity
I will be introducing my show with a music video of Journey’s iconic song “Don’t Stop Believing,” a song that I think all people will enjoy because it’s so popular. The overall meaning of this song is to not give up hope and
keep searching for that meaningful relationship regardless of how difficult and trying the search is. For my dramatic choice, I chose an animated short film titled “WiNDUP,” which highlights the fragile nature of life, love, and what it means to never give up.
I feel like these are good choices to open up my show because they will provoke a variety of emotions while also sending the message that I want my show to send.
3.
Middle Part of Show: What elements make up the middle part of your show? How do they work together to create an entertaining experience? Please include link(s) to media clips that take up the middle part of your show at the beginning of your response.
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (Official Music Video)
Matt Foley: Van Down By The River - SNL
The elements that will make up the middle part of my show will be a music video of Rick Astley’s arguably most famous song “Never Gonna Give You Up,” and a sketch from Saturday Night Live which stars the late comedian Chris Farley as Matt Foley, an inspiring motivational speaker. These elements are able to work together to create an entertaining experience because they are both light hearted and meant to provide happiness to the audience after an emotional introduction section. The overall meaning for “Never Gonna Give You Up” is that you’re making a promise to someone that you’ll never leave them behind, and the Saturday Night Live sketch will inspire and motivate the audience while also providing a comedic experience that will make them laugh.
4.
Conclusion of Show: What elements conclude your show? How do they work as conclusive material? Please include link(s) to media clips that close your show at the beginning of your response.
Mariah Carey - Hero (Official HD Video)
HOPE (2020)
The elements that will conclude my show will be a music video of Mariah Carey’s song “Hero” and an animated short film titled “HOPE,” and together, they work as great conclusive material. Mariah Carey’s “Hero” is an inspirational ballad that is meant to let the audience know that you don’t always have to rely on
someone else to be the hero because you need to believe that the hero is you. She also expresses hope in this song, which is also one of the themes of the short animated film. “HOPE'' is an animated short film about the journey of a new born baby sea turtle who faces many obstacles along the way. Using his courage and mind, he is able to overcome each obstacle and make it to his final destination. These elements will conclude my Nickelodeon Show and send the audience home feeling motivated and satisfied after an emotional rollercoaster. 5.
General Argument of Nickelodeon Show: What aspects of your show resonate with the original goals and experiences of the Nickelodeon? How have you modified the show to work in today’s media environment? Please incorporate specific quotations and paraphrases in bold
from your textbook that support your creative choices and align with the goals of the Nickelodeon.
One aspect of my show that resonates with the original goals and experiences of the Nickelodeon is that my show includes narrative film in the form of animated short films. Although nickelodeons included all sorts of pictures on their programs, narra-tive film was the mainstay. Films during that period were beginning to become more complex in their storytelling
, and the animated short films that I have included in my Nickelodeon Show are definitely well-developed when it comes to the storytelling aspect. Additionally, as the films became more ambitious, theater owners realized that audiences appeared more engaged when music and sound seemed attuned to the story. Music is heavily involved in my Nickelodeon Show, as I have music videos and animated short films that each contain music, which will help keep the audience engaged throughout. I have modified my Nickelodeon Show to work in today’s media environment by using more modern content that is more recent. The content in my show is from some of the more recent decades, and this is so it can appeal to a larger group of people because people enjoy seeing music videos and animated short
films.
