I NSTRUCTIONS : P ART A 1. Select a topic of your choice and plan your presentation by completing the Presentation Plan Template provided. Y our presentation should be engaging and informative and last between 5 and 10 minutes so make sure you plan carefully and consider presentation aids and techniques that can make your presentation interesting. 2. The effectiveness of your presentation will be evaluated by other students as well as your assessor. Research existing presentation evaluation surveys and draft your own. Your survey should focus on questions relate to : - How well prepared you are? - Did you use non-verbal communication? - Interaction of the presenter with the audience. - Use of active listening and questioning techniques. The evaluation survey should include blank space for:  name of presenter  the date of the presentation  the title of the presentation  name of person completing survey. This must be an optional question to maintain privacy of the evaluator. 3. Demonstrate completed presentation plan and evaluation survey to your assessor for approval. 4. Deliver your short presentation and collect at least one survey from the audience Part B 1. Plan your presentation by completing the Presentation Plan Template provided. Introduction: (How are you going to grab the attention of the participants?) Greeting the audience warmly and introduce myself as the presenter. Planned techniques to ensure continuing audience interest: • Alternate my pacing • Call out individuals in the audience • Go off script • Start off with something shocking • Set up some jokes • Skip the data • Tell a story • And never read a slide. Outline/Structure of content: (Add topic headings in a logical sequence including introduction, key points and a conclusion If you start or join a family business, as a family member you’re likely to benefit from a range of advantages which you often don’t find in other enterprises. On the other hand, you may also face some difficulties that specifically relate to family businesses. How will you summarise your presentation? Before you get the idea that family businesses benefit only the family members involved, think again. Successful family businesses are a win/win. They benefit both the local and global economies, and in a big way. However how can it also be true that fewer than 10% survive to the third generation and less than 10% of owners are financially independent from their businesses when they retire? Family firms come with their own set of unique advantages and challenges. In order to be successful, the advantages must be capitalized upon and the challenges overcome. Who else is involved? (You will need to brief others on their roles, e.g. complete the evaluation, set up chairs, etc.) I will point few of my friend for answering my question during the presentation. Evaluation factors: Notes Improvement Required? Summary:  Did you summarise the content?  Did you ask the audience questions to gauge their level of interest and knowledge?  Did you answer questions effectively? Yes, I summarize the content after the presentation and I also ask them to give me some question to gauge their interest. Some questions are answered effectively, and some are not. No improvement required. Time:  Did you stick to the time limit? Yes, I did. I am always aware with my limited time No improvement required Voice:  Was your tone and volume appropriate?  Did you speak at an appropriate pace? I present my content loud and clear so that even the audience who sit at the back could listen clearly No improvement required Presentation Aids and Technology:  Were your aids effective?  Did you read from the PowerPoints?  Did you use the technology correctly and effectively?  Were your handouts effective? I use Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver my presentation, and I tell stories with the help of my footnotes. My handout also helps the audience Speaker notes could have been improved Audience involvement:  Did you maintain eye contact?  Did you ask questions to individuals?  Did you ask questions of the group?  Did you mix up the delivery to keep the group interested?  Did you provide a range of activities or information to keep the group interested? I effectively managed to maintains eye contact with the audience, and I ensured individual participation by asking questions It can be more effective, activities can be involved, and sessions can be more interactive.
