2 My cultural identity has been shaped by several cultures some which are greatly influential while others not so dominant. The first culture that has been so dominant in my life is the religious culture. Religion is one of the things that determine the direction a society takes; it also shapes the beliefs of the good and the bad. Religion has been central in my life defining the direction I take and the decisions I make on the cultural and social perspectives. Next is the ethnic culture that I believe have been so dominant and greatly shaped my cultural identity. Everyone belongs to a given ethnicity and the culture that is embraced by that particular ethnicity. Ethnic culture has been so dominant in my life and they have worked significantly in shaping my practices, beliefs and even the moral values. The other culture has ben the organization culture that I have interacted with in the various sectors and institutions that I have been in like the school. These cultural factors have been significant in defining my cultural identity and even determined how I communicate or interact with people. The values, norms, and the beliefs that are associated with the religious, ethnic, and organizational cultures have contributed to my cultural identity through the practices, and the moral guidelines that have been put in place to guide the people who identify with those cultures. All these cultures have there moral bearing and the direction that the people should embrace. It is these moral standards and the practices that have been central in explaining the direction my cultural identity takes ( Puyod, & Charoensukmongkol, 2019) . My view of the world is completely based on these cultures as they help determine what I perceive to be wrong or right. All the three cultures and their guidelines have helped me to choose what to embrace, associated with and those that I ignore. I believe that me and everyone views the world based on the culture which they have associated with. My cultural identity and its various complex dynamics has gone through significant evolution The culture has evolved through the interaction with the other groups or people that comes as a result of economic activities like trade and other social interactions ion the
3 society. As people from my culture in various generations interact with other people, they get to learn more about their cultures as well and begin to embrace the same. The cultural identity and its evolution have been motivated by the various activities that people who identify with my culture have engaged in over the years. In the recent times, the call for cultural diversity and inclusion has seen my culture evolve significantly incorporating some practices that were not really associated with the culture. Technology has also been seen to be at the center of the evolution and it has greatly changed the culture over the years since its introduction. My cultural identity has significant influence on how I communicate as a professional and also the decisions I make as a leader. As a professional I have to ensure that my communication process is not biased and incorporates everyone. At the ethnic and the religious grounds, I have to ensure my communication is inclusive. The decision I make at the leadership level are also a subject of my cultural identity and what it dictates ( Yari, et al 2020) . A leader should be able to ensure that everyone’s ethnic and religious lines are respected. The decision that I make as a leader therefore ensures there is mutual respect and inclusivity. Having a culture that I identify with has made me know the role it plays in an individual’s life and I would want the decisions made to respect that. This exercise has ben key in helping me understand the different taste and preferences and the implication cultures might have on them. Learning more about individuals who are consumers and the stakeholders have been integral in helping know what motivates the choices that people make in various situations. I have generally gained proper understanding of the individual consumer/shareholders point of argument and even know how the culture can influence an individual communication and decision making.
