Essay on Writing Self-Evaluation
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to
evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue
to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself "what have I learned
this semester?" and "what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing
?". Answering both
these questions will help me with my last step of my self–evaluation, developing a plan to learn new
skills.
During this semester, I have strengthened my writing by trying new writing techniques, learning
about purpose, and finding new ways of combating writers block. My first essay in this class was
less focused then the essays I wrote later in

I have struggled with writer's block with often. In the past, I've learned to take breaks while writing
to help alleviate symptoms of writers block; however, during the semester I have learned to carry a
pad of paper with me so that I can write down idea's while they are fresh in my mind. Writing down
my thoughts has helped me avoid writers block because I have a list of thoughts about the subject
before I have even started writing. When I struggle less to write it improves my essay's by
decreasing my stress, this can be seen in my writing. I was afflicted with writer's block while trying
to write both my compare and contrast essay and my description essay, this caused me a lot of stress
and caused my essay to suffer. On the other hand, when I wrote my classify and divide essay I did
not have to deal with writer's block. As a result the stress level was greatly decreased and the
improvement is substantial.
Although my writing has made some good progress during the course of this semester, I still some
things I need to learn in order to keep improving my writing. Grammar, writing in an active voice,
and building my rewrite skills are three examples of skills I need to build upon to continue to
improve me writing.
Even though my grammar has improved during the progression of this class, I still have a lot to
learn before my knowledge of grammar can contribute to my writing. I have never had an aptitude

My Self-Evaluation Of Speech
This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first
speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has happened
to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A speech can
have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being presented. I will
explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my personal assessment.
I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I convince my audience with
my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout the speech. For example,
throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my hands. By keeping my hands
in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be trusted. The volume of my voice was
at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my audience was able to hear me and listen
to me very clearly. I also presented myself with confidence and gave off the impression that I was
prepared. For example, I had a smile and had constant eye contact with my audience throughout my
speech. There was certain things that I was doing that was ineffective while I was talking.
Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was
saying and doing these actions. These actions are something I need to work on more when I present
my public communication to my audience

Self Evaluation as a Nurse
Self Evaluation as a Nurse I am pleased to state that I have been a registered nurse for forty years.
At this moment, I continue working in nursing while pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing
degree. My intended month of completion is October 2012. My experience in nursing education has
motivated me to continue my education and pursue a Masters degree in a nursing related field
commencing in 2013. Thus, in terms of my career planning, my education is a crucial part to my
professional development. Extending and deepening one's education, especially within the career
field of one's choice, can only bring upon additional professional opportunities as well as
opportunities for personal growth. My career planning includes building upon my decades of
experience in obstetrics, my particular area of specialty, expertise, and passion, with the assistance
and addition of higher education. I believe in terms of career planning, my strengths include
foresight, preparation, internal motivation, and focus. With respect to personal and professional
accountability, I believe I have prominent strengths in these areas as well. I would have not have
lasted within the nursing field for forty years if I did not have a firm sense of personal and
professional accountability. There are risks and precautions to be taken within any specific area of
nursing and medicine, but there is certainly something quite obvious about the accountability
necessary when working in obstetrics. I believe my

Speech On Self Evaluation
Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation
For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to
which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able
to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my
presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking
away from this speech.
First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any
other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my
outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to clearly
state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I was unable
to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme. I was not
very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly state my
theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve I should
in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with psychological
closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you".
I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic.
Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage

Essay on Self-Assessment and Reflection
Self–Assessment and Reflection
In the last seven weeks, I had an opportunity to look back and analyze the events that has shaped my
life. This was a unique experience where I was emotionally comfortable enough to look back at life.
I was able to objectively revisit many events that were often buried and too painful to face. I was
free from the turmoil of emotional fears of failure, anger, regret and loneliness, which often clouded
my perception. .
I was able to dwell on many pleasant and unpleasant events with more comfort and confidence. I
accepted each event as part of life, regardless of whether it was a good or bad experience. I
understand that life transpires even when we are not prepared for it, but more importantly, it

I supported myself financially, emotionally and mentally. Even though my move to Houston was the
right one, I executed the move without thinking things through. I should have stopped being self–
centered and thought of the pain and anguish that it would cause my parents. This life learning
experience has been a double–edged sword, because it has taught me to stand up for what I want, yet
on the other hand, sometimes running away is probably the best thing to do, which will help to clear
clouded thoughts and refocus on my destination.
Play to Win by Larry Wilson introduces a simplistic, yet optimistic, method of viewing life. It
embraces two fundamental views – emotional and spiritual maturity that allows us to evaluate who
we are. "Life is an adventure to be experienced, lived, experimented with and committed to."
(Wilson,1998, p.89) This statement alone tells us that we are in control of our lives. We all can
choose dissimilar and painful paths to get to the safe place and that is okay.
When looking back, my second life–learning lesson came through financial growth. This growth
was to some extent expected, since I was so lavish with cash. My financial motto was that money
comes and money goes. I knew eventually, I needed to get a grasp on my foolish spending habit, but
it spun out of control with each purchase. There were days where I would squander money like there
was no tomorrow. I never planned for the future let alone on for the next meal. For the

Performance Self Evaluation Essay
Introduction:
In this paper I critically reflect on five different self–assessments: locus of control (LOC), emotional
intelligence (EI), listening self–inventory, team member type and conflict management. Throughout
my discussion, I focus on their correlations and apply the gathered information to my work–life
experiences. I will also provide a systematic assessment of each of these questionnaires. This
evaluation will address any possible weaknesses I had found within the tests and prepare my final
conclusions based upon those final educated results.
Locus of Control & Emotional Intelligence Relationship: I scored moderate on the LOC,
(specifically internal LOC) and EI assessments. When evaluating these two tests I found a

When I look back to rough days they were generally caused because I would blame an alternative to
myself. For example, in my business 100 project we had one member who would not help. I was
frustrated and attributed him for our poor mark. I now know I should have fired him and split up his
work with the rest of the team instead of leaving it to last minute. I should have taken control of my
own fate and reasoned with the emotions I was feeling at that moment. Today I feel that I have a
much stronger EI and my LOC is improving subsequently.
Critical Discussion on the Emotional Intelligence Self–Assessment:
The correlation between these two surveys was clearly apparent and understandable. However, I
believe my moderate score in EI in the workplace is actually quite low. Working at a pharmacy for
over two and half years I feel that I have maintained a very high level of EI as per Mayer et al's
(2003) definition: "set of skills concerned with the processing of emotion
–relevant information and
measured with ability–based scales" (p. 97). I have been extremely fustrated at times but I have
always kept my composure in front of the customers. Almost all of our clientel is coming to pick up
medication for their depression, sickness, pain and/or anger symptoms. Thus, the people in good
mindsets are few and far between. I started this job wanting to become a pharmacist but after
working in this environment I knew that was not an

Mid-Self Evaluation Essay
Mid–Self Evaluation Essay As this semester has begun, and I have begun to adjust to this course's
requirements, expectations, and goals I have found myself taking more risks and challenging my
prior writing style. I've been a little apprehensive with my writing style this semester and feel that at
times I may be missing the entire ideas of the topic. Although I do the work and get a good grade, I
always feel uncertain before posting a blog or turning in my final assignment. Although the entire
courses topic is nothing foreign to me it has become a challenge for me to write about. The
homework reading materials and blogs have been very helpful for me so far in this semester. I've
found much inspiration for both the literacy narrative

When we do participate in peer reviews and reflections I make sure I do not rush my work and am
careful to respond in sufficient time. In the Official SCSU English Dept. Goals they have also listed
a section entitled The Rest. "The Rest: Regular preparation and participation (includes timeliness,
effort, improvement, participation in class discussion), peer support, surprise quizzes: 15%", I feel
that as a student in English 112 I have regularly participated in class, have offered peer support and
advice, and have done very well on the surprise quizzes we've had. Peer editing has helped me
become a stronger and more fluid writer this semester. I've never actually done peer editing within a
familiar group before every paper
, so having a specific day to read and comment on one another's
writing in detail has truly helped me formulate better essays overall. It has helped me not only to see
small mistakes I've made, but how the reader or audience interprets my work. Aside from peer
editing inside the classroom I've taken my papers to the writing center and you for advice and help. I
think that through the use of these sources it has helped me to develop stronger claims, better
fluidity, and coherency. By formulating ideal structures, engaging in peer editing, and creating
reflection pieces, they have helped me generate overall better papers.
My food narrative had very strong claims and an overall clear and coherent paper,

Personal Self Assessment Essay
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more
about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process.
You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I
plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success
in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is
the first step in my successful future.
I can remember in high school, it seemed like I was always one of the last students finished with a
test.
I was sometimes slower at completing a written paper or an assignment. In open discussions

I have discovered some interesting things I have noticed in myself before taking this course. For
example, my learning style I have noticed is the visual learning style.
With this, I prefer to see and read information to full gain comprehension. If I forget the data, or not
clearly understand it the first time read, I have the option of reading it over. I do not always trust
myself to absorb all information the first time around. I take a lot of notes to look at. Notes help me
remember even though I may not read the again, I can refer to them in my mind after writing them
down. I am not sure if just anyone reading them would get anything out of it, but at least I know
what they mean.
I like to take my time with material, but am not always given the allotted time to do so. I also like to
keep a written list of things to do to refer to. I am comfortable with my learning style, accepted it as
my very own. I am not sure if changing it this late in life is such a good idea. I have got by this far, it
must work out for me.
I have identified my personality style as being extroverted, one who becomes easily energized by
others, and outwardly expressing thoughts as long as I am fully understanding context and material
being discussed. If I have no idea what is being addressed, I am better of keeping quiet to save
myself from
