1 Cultural Intelligence Reflection After taking the CQ test, I feel like I have a much greater understanding of how to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds. Insights like these will help me grow as a leader in the years to come. CQ Knowledge, CQ Strategy, and CQ Action all received "high" ratings, which was encouraging to see, however CQ Drive received a "moderate" rating. I intend to use the methods and information I gained in class to achieve better results. The CQ Drive domain assessment found that I scored 89 on the extrinsic interest scale and 78 on the combined intrinsic interest and self-efficacy scale. This is a great starting point, but I'd like to find employment and settle in a new country someday, so there's potential for improvement. When it came to business, morals and ethics, and sociolinguistic competence, I scored a perfect 100 on the CQ test. In this respect, it was the perfect score. I received a 93 on the leadership scale. I am quite comfortable leading and supervising people not only of my own culture, but of any culture. The CQ Strategy scores for Planning were 98, Checking 89, and Awareness 78. All of my scores on CQ Strategy were above 50, which is good news, but I know I still have room for improvement in the areas of awareness and checking. I scored a 98 on CQ Action's speech acts segment and an 89 on the non-verbal portion. But my verbal score of 67 was the lowest of the four areas. My CQ Action abilities are in terrible shape and will require a lot of hard training on my part if I am to see any improvement at all. One of the most important skills for today's global leaders to have is cultural competence. Companies are under increasing pressure to localise their worldwide offerings to meet the requirements of the communities in which they are made available. The advantages of cultural intelligence training are becoming more widely recognised, and businesses are working hard to integrate it. Students and aspiring business professionals should recognise
2 the importance of cultivating cultural intelligence because of the current labour market (Miller, 2016). Competencies in leadership, strategic planning, internal and external motivation, self-efficacy, verbal and nonverbal communication, cultural sensitivity, and awareness are all essential in the field of international management. Building empathy for people from other cultures and countries can be aided by encouraging the development of personal qualities that improve one's work, one's personal life, and one's interactions with customers.
