Hi Professor & Classmates!
●
What is an expert?
An expert is someone who obtains expertise in a particular subject through thorough
knowledge or specialty.
●
How important are facts in the process of forming an opinion?
Seeing as facts can be verified, I believe they are essential when forming an opinion.
When utilizing facts, we can analyze the actual evidence to determine its authenticity. A
fact-based judgment or an genuine attempt to discern a rational conclusion from factual
evidence is what defines an opinion.

How did you respond to the self-assessment question? Since doing further
research, have you re-thought the way in which you assess credibility and
reliability?
I place more value on credibility than reliability because credibility refers to a
truthfulness or factual accuracy, whereas reliability is associated with the accuracy of a
testimony. For instance, first-hand news reporting from ABC and other credible news
sources is based on research and firsthand reporting. While news and information shared
on social media can occasionally be accurate, you must take it at face value, which is why
social media is regarded as reliable.
A reference or opinion's recentness, in my opinion, is essential because it indicates that
the information is more up to date, accurate, and relevant to the situation at hand.
Misinformation can result from depending on outdated information. “Keeping content
accurate and updated than those social media organizations that publish articles simply to
attract search engine traffic and market their services.” (Dietel, B.W (2018, April 13).
