6-2 Journal: Reflecting on New Client Information
In discovering this new information about our client Joseph, it did not come as a shock. In
looking at his current behavior and how he interacts with those at the VA home he is in, it could
be assumed that the behavior would have also been shown to his family and in return would
create a rough relationship. When a patient suffers from PTSD it can be difficult to maintain a
healthy relationship with friends or family members that are close to him. The symptoms that
come with PTSD can cause things like issues with trusting others, communication between
individuals, or how they might react to the actions of others. Even after getting this new
information I do not believe the treatment recommendations should change for Joseph. It is
important for him to focus on himself first because creating that healthy relationship with himself
will then he will be able to create those healthy relationships with others. However, after learning
there is a negative relationship between the patient and his daughter I might have him work on
why it is hard for him to maintain those relationships in a healthy manner. The daughter
attending one of his therapy sessions could even be a beneficial aspect in order to learn what her
dad is going through and then helping him understand how he can cope with it. This could also
encourage them to form a relationship and work through their issues.
I cannot relate to the patient because I myself have struggled with my mental health for quite
awhile. In high school I found myself not wanting to go to school and stay in bed, not doing the
work needed to complete school, and stopped speaking to friends at school. Thankfully I had
family members and teachers at the school I attended who were determined to help me work
through my issues and realize I needed help. I then started weekly therapy sessions and began to
find ways to cope with my depression. Our mental health is so important and sometimes we
forget how when we are not okay mentally everything else around us suffers. If we work on the
issues within us we will see the positive effects on the outside within our everyday lives.

The following are Federal Air Quality Standards for the US
CO: 35ppm (1-hour)
NO2: 0.053ppm (Actually NOx but please use NO2 to calculate)
03: 0.075 ppm
SO2: 75ppb (1-hour)
a) Calculate the air concentrations in ug/m³ corresponding to the
standards. Detail your calculations.
b) What would be the mass concentrations on Mars if the little green
men would apply the same standards in terms of mixing ratio. Explain
your assumptions.

Catalase is the enzyme found in potatoes and It decomposes hydrogen peroxide
(H202) to form water and oxygen gas.
H202 + catalase -
----> H2O + 02 +E. The reaction is maintained at temperature 40 degree
Celsius and there was a formation of bubbles. Based on the enzymatic reaction
given, What do you think is the substance responsible for the formation of
bubbles?
Oxygen gas
Hydrogen gas
no reaction, because the enzyme catalase will be deactivated
no reaction, because the enzyme catalase will be denatured

The compound diborane (B2H6) was at one time considered for use as a rocket fuel. Its combustion reaction is
B2H6(g) + 3 O2(l) → 2 HBO2(g) + 2 H2O(l)
The fact that HBO2, a reactive compound, was produced rather than the relatively inert B2O3 was a factor in the discontinuation of the investigation of the diborane as a fuel. What mass of liquid oxygen (LOX) would be needed to burn 234.4 g of B2H6?
Answer in units of g.

Peroxynitric acid (HOONO2) is an unstable molecule that decomposes to nitric acid and oxygen:
2HOONO2(aq) → 2HNO3(aq) + O2(g)When the concentration of peroxynitic acid is graphed against time, the resulting plot is
curved, but if the logarithm of this concentration is plotted, we instead get a straight line.
Based on this, which statement is true?
a) This decay is a second order in peroxynitric acid.
b) The slope of the straight-line graph is the rate constant.
c) One needs the concentration of peroxynitric acid to calculate its half-life.
d) The rate law appears to be of the form -Δ[HOONO2]/Δt = k[HOONO2].

Determine whether the following statements are true or false, and explain your answer in one sentence.
a) The rate law for an overall reaction 2A (g) -> B (g) is: Rate = k[A]^2
b) The rate law for an elementary step 2A (g) -> B (g) is: Rate = k[A]^2
c) The rate of an overal reaction is the rate of the slowest elementary step within its mechanism.

The degradation of CF3CH2F (an HFC) by OH radicals in the troposphere is first order in each reactant and has a rate constant of k = 1.6 * 108 M-1s-1 at 4 °C. If the tropospheric concentrations of OH and CF3CH2F are 8.1 * 105 and 6.3 * 108 molecules>cm3, respectively, what is the rate of reaction at this temperature in M>s?
