DAD 220 5-2 Activity: Analysis and Summary by Robert Adams
Replace the bracketed text in this template with your responses and any supporting screenshots. Then
submit it to the Module Five Activity for grading and feedback. Rename this document by adding your
last name to the file name before you submit.
Create a table called Parts Maintenance and load the data into it. Put this table in the database
named after yourself. Load this data set from the ‘/home/codio/workspace’ path and run queries
to find the results.
1.
Analyze the data
you’ve been provided with to
identify themes
:
a.
Which parts are being replaced most?
i.
After sorting the number of part names starting with the highest number of
issues, (and going by replacements only) tires are being replaced the most.
Looking at the output, the top 3 issues are Fuel tanks, Tire repairs, and Tire
replacements.
b.
Is there a region of the country that experiences more part failures and replacements
than others?
i.
Identify region:
1.
The Midwest region experiences more part failures and replacements
than others. (After initially calculating the total and seeing my numbers
were off, I noticed DC was missing from the Northeast Region Definition
list, but listed in the FleetMaintenanceRecords.csv file, so I added it just
in case, bringing my total back to 805).
ii.
How might the fleet maintenance team use the information to update its
maintenance schedule?
1.
The fleet maintenance team could use the information to provide
priority maintenance schedules based off the higher number of parts
that need repaired or replaced. They could also stock up more on parts
that are in higher demand based off these records and supply more
maintenance technicians to the areas that have higher rates of issues
such as the Midwest and Northeast.
c.
Which parts are being replaced most due to corrosion or rust?
i.
The top 3 parts being replaced most due to corrosion or rust are Wheel Arch,
Fender replacement, and Rocker Panel.
d.
Which parts are being replaced most because of mechanical failure or accident, like a
flat tire or rock through the windshield?
i.
Tire repairs, Tire replacements, and Windshield replacements are being replaced
most because of mechanical failure or accidents such as flat tires or rocks
through the windshield. (I included another screenshot including other possible
parts needed for mechanical failures or accidents just in case it was looking for
more than those two examples, such as collisions, dead batteries, and gear
slipping issues)

The Covid-19 pandemic has many experts commenting on the science associated with the virus - origins, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, masks, social distancing. It is important to consider what the experts say, but to also evaluate their statements. We will start with the scientific method.
I want you to outline the scientific method from what you have been taught in previous classes. You can list steps, parts, process, short descriptions, whatever. If not taught in previous classes, then you will make your best guess about it.

You work in a research organization that is looking for markers of various diseases that can be used as a diagnostic for the disease. It has been reported in the past that high levels of Cu are found in the sweat of people with cystic fibrosis. One of the research projects is focused on looking for high levels of Cu in samples that can be obtained non-invasively such as saliva, sweat, hair, nails, etc.
The lab will analyze large samples for Cu. What instrument would you recommend purchasing to support this work, Atomic absorption spectrophotometer or an inductively coupled plasma atomic spectrophotometer? Explain the basis for your decision.
